webber4 Posted yesterday at 10:16 AM Posted yesterday at 10:16 AM Hi, I've been looking to rent Honda Wave (I got used to it in the past) but i've noticed all rent shops these days have only automatic bikes to rent like 'Klick' etc. - does anyone know a modern bike like Honda Wave which is available to rent in the shops there? Thank you
richard_smith237 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago You mean you want to rent a geared bike ? Just curious, why the objection to auto ?… bike like the hinds ADV are much better ( but, of course you may have specific reasons) When you write ‘there’ do you mean Thailand in general, or somewhere specific in Thailand ?

'There' I mean Koh Phangan, where I live at the moment. so yes, I'm interested in a geared bike, I think the Honda Wave is labeled as 'semi automatic' bike, meaning it has a leg geared paddle but no clutch.

If your accident was due to braking, could it have been due to no ABS and grabbing too much brake ? Give serious thoughts to something like a Honda ADV 160 in KPG which will have better suspension and better split brakes with ABS which are much safer than foot controlled no ABS brakes. I’m not even sure the newer Honda clicks have foot controlled brakes. Someone local may have better info for you also try Facebook market place for rental shops… 1
Agusts Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago To be honest, now that you mention it, I've never seen a Honda Wave for rent in any shop in all of Phuket all these years....!!!? I have seen normal geared bikes with clutch, but not a semi-auto..., although half of Thais riding Wave all over Thailand. ..! I guess rentals cater for tourists and they prefer auto scooters, also their underseat space..., but don't give up. Years ago I privately rented a scooter from a guy who worked in the restaurant across the street. Very old one so not worry about damaging it. Maybe just ask around from Thais and make an offer to rent their Wave, or maybe they know someone... 1
scubascuba3 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Just get a Honda Click and practice with the brakes, I wouldn't want to go back to a foot brake. I brake first with left combi, then right front 1

Where the bloody hell did I say that the prices listed were full price? On the website there are bikes selling for around 10k to 20k baht. It's up to the OP to research. 1 1

Maybe you reference a push-bike or maybe Mios r Snoopy. Finding a non-clapped out Wave for <20kB. on Kaidee?? Plus delivery from BKK to Island prolly be 4-5000 baht. So your idea sucks.

connda Posted 19 minutes ago Posted 19 minutes ago I used to drive in the mountains on my Wave. You want to be able to shift on the steeps. Like the OP, I tend to be partial to geared motorcycles.
