Skype

Now that Bill Gates seems intent to price Skype out to the non business community,  What are people turning to ?

I need something like Skype used to be.

1/ Not to be restricted to just one country, or having to make a certain number of calls a month etc

2/ To be able to phone Banks/Gov Departments etc without them having to have  reciprocal program, messenger etc.

3/ Would be nice to credit as you go-- like Skype used to be (Pay Pal would just deduct from my bank account when I got below $10) but not essential.

4/ Would like pay through Pay Pal or similar as I have had bad experiences where deductions are  still taken from Credit card, after I have left & requested stop.

Probably can not for fill all of my wish list but anything that comes near it would be great.

The options are diminishing, especially when it comes to banking, their software can detect a VOIP a mile away.

The bulletproof option is get the cheapest phone plan from your country that enables wifi calling, generally one of the  MVNO's Park the phone in your house and wifi network and it'll look exactly like you're in home country for text and phone, which is what the banks want

I think Mint in the US and the rest are around $15/month, pretty sure in Europe about the same
