A local fisherman was left horrified after casting his net and pulling up a human arm entangled in a black jacket. The grim discovery was made in an abandoned pond in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok, where skeletal remains had also been found last year.

At approximately 10:00 on 9th February, Police Captain Thirayu Wongsingh, an investigator from the Chorakhe Noi Police Station, received a report of human remains being found in a natural pond near Soi Maree 1, off Ruampattana Alley, in Thap Yao subdistrict. Forensic officers, a medical examiner from the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine, and rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a human right arm attached to a black winter style  jacket. Inside the jacket pocket, they found a heavily faded passport, which appeared to belong to a Nigerian national.

According to the fisherman who made the discovery, he was retrieving his net when he noticed the human arm entangled in his catch. Startled, he immediately contacted the police.

Police Captain Thirayu noted that in April last year, another fisherman had found a human leg approximately 100 metres from this location. Investigators suspect the remains belong to the same individual, who may have died before wild animals scattered the body parts into the water.

Authorities plan to conduct further searches for additional remains and will send the recovered body parts for forensic examination. An investigation is now underway to identify the deceased and establish the circumstances surrounding their death.
