Is border run visa illegal?

I went to Lamphun Immigation today to report my stay in Thailand. The officer said my border visa run could be rejected, I must apply for retirement visa, and they might not accept border run visa, hope someone can enlighten me over this matter, thank you

Do not follow. 

So you entered Thailand visa exempt. 

Why did you go to immigration to "report your stay"  Do you mean TM30.

How long have you been in Thailand.

What do you mean "visa run"

Assume you mean border bounce for 60 day visa exempt entry.

 

Why did io suggest Non O retirement.

So you are over 50 (obviously) 

Perhaps you have extensive history in Thailand
