UPDATE: Ethane (C₂H₆) is a colorless, odorless, flammable gas that's found in natural gas and petroleum. It's used as a fuel, in chemical manufacturing, and as a freezing agent.

Same as saying benzine here in Thailand whereas you'd just say gasoline in the US.

Only 5 European countries have VAT rates below 20%. In EU countries it ranges from 17% to 27%.

I have started checking labels, and, as much as possible, steer clear of US products.

I do buy Kindle books, don't know how tariffs would affect them.

Every country needs income to pay the costs a country ahs to amke. Some do that by higher wage/income taxes, others - seen not so perfect system to monitor the income of its citizens- by import duty. Especially less organised countrioes need that way.

 

Solve it by taxing all Americans living in Thailand with the same level as they had to pay in the USA. Import duty of US goods for US citizens living in Thailand can be reduced then.

I have lived in Thailand for many years and spend my retirement income here. I purchase what I need from local shops and online. I support local mom-and-pop stores first, then online (shopee) and big-box stores.

Impossible to "stretch" it like Grape Nuts.

I may as explain what I mean.

To stretch Grape Nuts for a cereal breakfast I use a mix of other cheaper not crunchy grains including Thai sourced no sugar corn flakes, Australian no sugar multigrain Muesli surprisingly cheap, Orgran rice puffs also Aussie I think, and then just two tablespoons of Grape Nuts. The Grape Nuts crunch and taste dominates.

Only place I've found it is at Tops - WAITROSE & Partners, Says Duchy ORGANIC Scottish Jumbo Whole Rolled oats.  I have been an oats eater for decades.  Have heard negative stories but read from researchersand happy with my eating habits.  I prepare the oats

(6 tablespoons)  soaked in Almond or Walnut milk for 24 hours, put in 2 tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar to cut the acid from the oats.  I did steel-cut oats for a couple of years but cost per benefit made the rolled oats a better choice.  I note also that Tops drops the price regularly about 50 baht a box but they do run out just about every month.  when they drop the price I buy a couple of boxes as they an sit in  my house just as easy as waiting to be sold in the store.

I buy imported unsweetened puffed rice which seems very crazy like importing ice into Alaska. But I've never found a Thai product like that.

Thank you. I was fortunate over New Year to find that TOPS in Terminal 21, Rama 3 had Granovites on a 2 for 1 offer. I like to add oats/grains to Greek Yoghurt.

good for the extra protein and probiotics too.  I add tons of all kinds of fruit (even those with high sugar content as the fiber lowers and problem) nuts, seeds, herbs, Greel style yougut, Thailand is wonderful in variety of fruits.
