In a remarkable turn of events yesterday in Bangkok, an elderly local man's heart-stopping scare ended happily as four pieces of ancient gold jewellery, forgotten in a taxi, were recovered thanks to the swift actions of local police.

The high-stakes detective work unfolded when 76-year-old Mr. Nikom realised his precious cargo - two rings and two necklaces crafted from ancient gold - had been left behind in the rush of exiting a taxi journey from the bustling Chatuchak Park to Thewet intersection. The jewellery, valued at roughly 500,000 baht, sparked a swift and determined police response.

Police Colonel Sanong Saengmanee, head of the Chanasongkram Police Station, led the charge, quickly deploying teams to scour CCTV footage and identify the cab. Identifying the distinctive green-yellow taxi, officers managed to contact its owner before picking up new passengers became an obstacle.

In a stroke of luck and skilled police work, the jewels were recovered without incident. The driver checked his vehicle and confirmed the forgotten items matched what police described. The heirloom pieces, weighing about 10 baht in gold metric terms, were safely returned to a relieved Mr. Nikom.

This incident encapsulates the invaluable role played by public vigilance and effective police response. Authorities reminded passengers to double-check their belongings and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring community safety and security. Charmingly, amidst daily global hustle, this tale of lost and found in Bangkok warms the spirit while succinctly showcasing the capital's vigilant guardians, reported The Thaiger.

Lucky old fella, I could imagine the next passenger getting into the car would have a big surprise.
