A villager searching for forest produce in Lampang province was left seriously injured after being attacked by a wild boar. The man sustained multiple deep wounds but managed to call for help.

At approximately 08:00 on February 18, the Thoen Rescue Association in Lampang received a distress call reporting that a man had been severely injured by a wild boar in Ban Pang Kum, Mae Pa subdistrict, Thoen district. Rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The attack occurred in a forested area approximately one kilometre from the village. Despite his injuries, the victim, identified as Mr. Sombat 48, remained conscious and managed to phone his relatives for help. Villagers rushed to his aid, carrying him out of the forest before notifying rescue services.

Upon arrival, rescue workers found Mr. Sombat suffering from multiple deep lacerations on his calf, ankle, and thigh, resulting in significant blood loss. He appeared weak and disoriented. Emergency personnel provided first aid before transferring him to Thoen Hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Sombat had entered the forest with his dog, as he regularly did to forage for food. Shortly after, he called his relatives in distress, reporting that he had been attacked by a wild boar and needed urgent assistance. His family and neighbours quickly organised a rescue effort, carrying him to safety before contacting emergency services.

Authorities are investigating the incident while urging local residents to exercise caution when venturing into forested areas known for wildlife activity.

Maybe the food he was "foraging" for was the food (moo baa/pig crazy) that got him. Although illegal to poach wild boar it happens. I've actually eaten this in the past and it's delicious.

Wild boars are extremely dangerous, I saw one in southern Germany, it had wandered into the outskirts of a small town and attacked an old woman, a couple in a passing car who saw it used the car to hit the boar and pulled the severely injured woman inside, the boar then proceeded to attack the car causing extensive damage. That Thai man is lucky to be alive.

I hope the boar is ok.  Too many people now occupying what was once wild life territory.

Pigs, in this case wild pigs, reproduce twice a year, 4 to 12 piglets, and they're voracious eaters, competing with wildlife like deer for food, and driving them away from it. They are an incredible nuisance in the US and other countries for this reason, and tear up farmland and forested areas for food. They need to be hunted intensely, all year long, just to keep their numbers in control. There isn't any legal hunting here so they over populate besides those that take matters into their own hands, which is necessary. They do attack if cornered or protecting their young and can leave a lot of wounds from tusks and biting. Yes, people have moved into much of wildlife's territory, this being the land developers fault, and people are living and competing for the land with wildlife. Pigs, because of their litter size, cause a lot more problems than deer all species, even though deer also have to be hunted wherever they live to keep them withing the carrying capacity of their habitat. This all points to man's damage to land.

so what happens when the world population keeps growing year after year .... towns get bigger and spread out more,   villages encroach on tigers, elephants, deer, buffalo, boars, pigs, goats , and others habitat until they have no more room and no food to hunt as the humans have wiped all their food source out.

what will become of humanity, and the animals  ?

Just to give the other side of the coin, I’ve only eaten it once and I suffered an extreme gut infection which put me in hospital for a night !

I’ll spare everyone the graphic details. 🤐

It's been happening for centuries. The end result is- - Deer kill over 300 people on the roads yearly, and about 5 by attacks. Tigers take an average of 1 person a week, as well as leopards. Lions kill hundreds yearly, as do elephants. Mountain lions kill as people walk, run and bike ride into territory that used to be theirs. Snakes are found in homes, especially in Thailand and India, and bit hundreds yearly. You can't wantonly kill dangerous animals unless they become man eaters, and it's usually very hard because they are roamers, and in areas where people live out in the country and game managers are slim.

Nothing will stop this, as land developers are only concerned with making a profit. If the world's population stayed at zero gain, it would help, but the damage is already done. If deer aren't hunted, naming just one species, they over populate and go into subdivisions to eat. People get pissed off because they're eating thousands of dollars of their plants and they can't do anything because ignorant game departments don't allow a bow season around many towns. the smart ones have adapted.

Agreed. In a natural world their numbers would be limited by predation. As it stands humans are replacing wildlife in many countries.

Good question. I would suggest humans will survive the animals but will then turn on each other.

People are making species extinct daily, and that alone shows we are doing things wrong.

when you have to start showing grandkids pictures of Gorillas,  Rhinoceroses,  Tigers and snow leopards,  then you know it's too late to do anything.

People have lived with the Tigers and Leopards for centuries in India, even though some man eaters have made life hard for many of them. Most of the problem lies with people shooting the cats, wounding them, then having them take revenge against those they perceived hurt them. Sometimes cats will kill humans if they were taught by their moms or if they ran into a human and found out killing them was easier than going after normal game animals, but people can co-exist along with most animals peacefully unless humans start trouble. This doesn't factor into Lions. They kill humans because they like it, as do some other cats. Hippos should be left alone, as the lady last week found out. Crocodiles kill people every month in Africa and India because the people need to use the rivers, and attacks are not easy to avoid. Elephants are usually no problem unless harassed or abused by people and up to 500 people die yearly because of it.
