It doesn't matter, anyway. The Ukrainian constitution forbids to hold election when the country is under martial law.

Deflect, deflect, deflect!

Cancel martial law, then hold a (s)election.

Surely all those conscripted autistic teens and crippled elderly will stay at their posts once the nazis aiming machine guns at their backs leave their positions covering the expendables to vote.

Cancel martial law when the country is invaded and bombed. That's dumb!!

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

But they've already been invaded and bombed.

Won't make much difference, then.

In the same way that raising taxes generates more revenue, just tax everyone at 100% and we can balance the budget.

Who is paying tax if nobody works

The USA was under existential threat from the Axis in the '40s and we still held elections.

Are you claiming the guy who declared martial law is capable of holding off elections as long as he wishes?   And that's okay?

In recent history, they referred to that guy as Fuhrer.  I wonder what the Ukrainian translation is.

The USA was not being bombarded daily.

The USA did not have 20%+ of its  nation occupied.

The USA only  became actively involved in the war in late 1942.

The US election in November 1944  took place when  the Axis was on the verge of defeat. There was no existential threat to the USA as the Axis were  incapable of  doing damage to the continental USA by that time.

Ukrainian legislation directly prohibits holding elections under martial law. Even if it did allow them, dozens of unsolvable practical and security issues would render it literally impossible to ensure a fair electoral process in the circumstances of a total war.

- 700,000+ Ukrainians are deployed in the war zone. How would they vote?

- 8 million+ or 20% of the population has left Ukraine  to love elsewhere temporarily. How would they vote?

- Would Ukrainians in occupied Ukraine be able to participate in the election?

Please get some new talking points from  MAGA/Kremlin.

you really believe social security will grind to a halt?

assuming AN has no regulations on wagers of course, care to wager?

man some people are so off the mark about what's going on around them.

it's not bs savings. the savings are REAL.

That's what you have been told to believe.

IME, what happens is the best and brightest leave, to start up their own businesses, or get hired back as contractors when the organization realizes it has lost institutional memory.

In the meantime, the office politicians and clock-watchers ramp up their efforts to keep their jobs, with an impression of great activity. They then relax back into climbing the ladder, or torpor.

Nobody ever goes back one or two years later to verify whether the savings are real.

You are quite right, many people don't understand what's going on around them.

I was given a compendium of Poe's short stories when I was about ten years old. IIRC illustrations by Arthur Rackham.

I thought the stories were terribly gloomy and morbid, coming from a tortured soul.

I am still baffled why the gift was thought suitable for a kid my age.

It's good you didnt turn into a mass murderer after reading Poe at the age of 10.

Most kids minds would have been warped.
