Wonder how many millions they'll waste studying that proposal that will never happen.

If it's Musk's Millions then I don't care.  Zero tax dollars/pounds please.

Can the trains be painted in the colours of the Mexican flag?   Or the Canadian flag?  Just for 💩 and giggles...

I wish Musk would concentrate on his tech stuff and keep his South African apartheid hands off backing Nazis, stealing personal info of all Americans to further his own far right wing social media empire. and smashing the U.S. government into smitereens.

Would not be for me.  Might be for some.  I don't know.

Maybe if it came via Pattaya?

Strong walls make for good neighbours, the Atlantic ocean is a strong wall and America isn't even a good neighbour at the moment.

I'm sure, for 100 billion trillion we can also build an escalator from Earth to the Moon, but what is the point of such fantasies? Who will ever come up with such huge sums of money; Elon Musk, perhaps? 😆

No detail. This submarine suggestion has few real comparisons with, and far more operational challenges than, the Chinese hyperloop.

Why not just wait for the Star Trek transporter to arrive?

Beam me up, Scotty.

My thoughts exactly.  Money may be better spent on teleporter research, just keep the fly out next time.

Well yeah, you cant raze houses, shoot peasants and rape the environment while using slave labour like they can.

For the same reason that, prior to transatlantic air travel being the norm, such a project was considered desirable...to get there quickly.

Of all the places in the world why would anybody want to go to NYC

Or London?

It would be desirable for native british. They would leave en masse

Nothing's stopping them leaving right now, been that way for a long time.

I guess if you're not near London or NYC, it wouldn't matter much.

But if you are, that would be fantastic.

How about a Bangkok to LA line, Elon?

What would be the 'G' forces on passengers during the acceleration/deceleration phases and the time of those phases?

1G probably.

I agree, both over expensive rip off cities with problems of violence and homelessness.

It isn"t. ! ........... Just think ,  Elon Muskovitch could be in London in Less than an Hour  !  !  !  !

You do know that the Mods hate childish nicknames. But hey, tell us why you gave him that one other than kindergarden ego needs.

Agreed, but, regrettably, the childish nickname rule only applies to other posters' forum names.

I'm sure that the DOGE savings will more than pay for this very useful and practical tunnel.  😝

How?  It would be a private venture, there's no suggestion of a governmental involvement.

Which Nazis are being backed by Musk?

What's your evidence for accusing him of furthering his own far right wing social media empire by stealing personal info of all Americans?

How is he "smashing the government into smithereens"?   Rationally, I mean.

There are none.  What about the air above the Atlantic at the moment...a good wall?

London to New York in an hour is not a bad idea.   An escalator to the Moon isn't.

Next.

Not only seismically active, but volcanically active too, it's a spreading plate margin; the distance between London and New York increases by some 2-5cm per year.

Millions of people do...ask them.

Which city do you come from?

Only $1 million per ticket!  No commoners please.

You seriously think that would not be taken into consideration and that they need a couple of Asean Now posters to point out the snags?   Has construction not taken place on existing seismically-active areas?

I was born in London but have lived in many towns, mainly outside the UK so I don't identify with anywhere.

Perhaps they aren't allowed to go anywhere else.
