I have nevertheless put the interview back in its context and I did so without resorting to a personal attack or any attempt at bypassing the profanity filter.

The context is that Starmer made the prediction two years ago. Why would he make promises so far out?

UK consumers don’t get cheaper oil or gas just because it was extracted from UK oil and gas fields.

Well that's how it should work  and if its not working like that it needs to change "ASAP"   in the meantime they could buy some cheap Russian oil and gas !

And open the coal mines again  lots of untapped energy still down there  with the bonus of creating employment  with real jobs  not just pushing bits of paper from desk to desk.  🙄

I wonder if you’ve thought through what would happen if the UK were to nationalize the property and businesses owned by some of the world’s most powerfully connected corporations?

The UK isn’t going to be buying Russian oil and gas anytime soon.

They  seemed to have  had no problem seizing Russian assets when it suited the narrative ?

Anyway there is no immediate need to nationalise or seize assets  just tell the companies that energy toward Britain comes first/must be cheap or there will be consequences...

like tariffs !!! or non renewal of concessions/contracts.

If the companies  are non compliant then buy Russian oil and gas  as a stop gap .....yes yes  Putin Hitler    yawn !!!

And if they withdraw then re-nationalise ,abundant cheap energy is a vital national interest  should never have been sold off to foreign interests in the first place.

No, it hasn't.

I agree some area are a not so nice but there are some great places to live and be happy.

I agree and all of those places have few or no well paying jobs for ordinary people.
