Recommended Crypto brokerage for Thai Residents?

Featured Replies

Dear Fellow AN members,

Can anyone from personal (non-biased) experience recommend any brokerage for Thai residents, meaning easy to purchase/sell off crypto (BTC, Ethereum etc) in THB and Thai Bank accounts?

Any pro's / con's of local brokerage vs. international ones, based abroad?
I often read there may be risks involved with international brokers abroad that may lock you out/freeze account if address is in Thailand?
What are the pitfalls to be wary off in terms of tax in Thailand and/or there interesting ways of getting money in/out of Thailand?

Cheers,

FB

I've been using Bitkub as a local exchange for several years, onboarding and off to my local bank accounts.

Likewise, international exchanges, Binance, OKX, Gate, Kucoin and Mexc. I've KYC'd using my Thai address several years ago and no issues.

Apparently, people have had issues with Bitkub's KYC process. I have not, perhaps because I jumped onboard early and things have since changed.

For what its worth, the only funds or tokens I keep on any exchange are what I'm trading and not longer term holds.

Use Kraken.com in the US if you have no ties to the US, are not a US citizen and have never been a green card holder.

The US have many tax rules for anyone who's ever been a taxpayer inside the US - but for the rest of us - things are far easier.

Also Kraken are international and they offer some special services to non US residents which are not available to US residents - like interest on cash balances.

Oh, and they do not care that you are in Thailand one bit. I used a Kasikorn bank statement which I had printed with my address in English to prove my place of residence and they don't even mention a tax id.
