It was previously said that ME visa holders cannot leave Thailand via e-gates.
I decided to check if this is true.
I bought a round trip ticket to Hong Kong.

I successfully left Thailand via Suvarnabhumi e-gates on 5.03.2025.
I returned to Thailand on 6.03.2025. Please don't forget your boarding pass - the immigration officer might need it. Although I left it on the plane, I had no problems. Perhaps the officer saw a small piece of paper about entering Hong Kong and realized that it was enough. I did not fill out any documents upon entry. I just gave my passport to the officer. The officer flipped through my passport, saw the visa (Non-O ME Savannakhet based on marriage) and put a stamp on entry into Thailand.

If you are choosing a place for an airplane visa run from Bangkok, I recommend Hong Kong. You can choose cheap roundtrip tickets for 4,000 baht (low-cost airline) or expensive ones for 9,000 baht. The actual time the plane spends in the air is 2 hours 20 minutes. Upon entry, you will not need to fill out any papers or electronic forms. The immigration officer will simply look at your passport and give you a small piece of paper giving you the right to stay in Hong Kong. I do not recommend taking your Thai wife with you. Rumor has it that immigration officers like to suspect tourists from Asian countries of illegal work.

That's a joke right.

This rumor is based on my wife's opinion who watched TikTok videos of Thai tourists who were grilled by immigration and denied entry to Hong Kong. I also saw a Thai girl who was in line in front of me stand for a very long time and the officer asked her many questions.

Said by who? I never saw anyone say this. It wouldn't even make sense.
