Dark chocolate

Just noticed that the cost of 100gm Lindt dark chocolate has increased yet again. Now it's 249 baht. The taste of 85% cacao is great, but is it time to stop buying it?

Well done to those who have said they make their own.

  • Some years ago I planted a number of cocoa trees. Most for fun, why not when I'm in a tropical climate suitable for cocoa. They grow were well and are now producing fruits. So next step was to read up

  • @scubascuba3 A little bit relative, as I'll take a little fat over sugar any day.   Cacao & coconut oil have their positives, while sugar has none.

Cocoa shortages are the reason for the increason. War and fungus are the cause. The cheaper  options  skimp on cocoa. I stick with Lindt because everything else is crap, especially Hershey's and Mars

The price of Lindt dark chocolate increased, increased & increased again.

Now it seems to have disappeared off the shelves of Villa Market. It now only has chocolate with orange. Goodbye the dark 72%, 85% etc.

Apparently, you can still have it from Lazada.

Ritters dark chocolate (81%) at Villa  Supermarket now reduced to 92 baht.

Grab it while you can.

Restocked, and still 405 baht for 70% dark. Really shouldn't need to pay more than 500 baht, as someone was searching and found Bestmate 70% @ 600+ baht, on Lazada ... yikes

Holy Buddha ... damn inflation. Near 25% since last purchase. Restocked, and now ฿500 a bag, up from ฿405 ... F'me cheesy

Guess she figured out she was way underpriced. Her distributor suggests a ฿549 price. I saw the other versions, 50% and lower were a bit more than 25% increase.

Think I need to find some unDutched 100% powder, and just make choco-drinks. Although, I really do look forward to my daily chocolate fix of 65gr. A lot cheaper than ฿220 for 100g bar, noticed on recent chocolate thread.

Also cheaper than being an Alky, as 3 large beers would be about ฿200 also, and not healthy for you. My chocolate fix is only ฿2000 a month.
