He is supposedly a former MP.

Why has he waited so long to bring this topic up?

Is this a new thing that has just started, or has it been going on for years, even during the time that he WAS an MP?

Where are the stats regarding high power bikes causing more accidents than small bikes. My gutfeel says the other way around makes more sense. The novice or someone with no riding background is more likely to rent a small bike for fun and new experiences.

No idea about stats, but those Nmax's, Tmax's and others are a major pain in the butt.

I agree with much of what he said, although a little too late. Also the foreigners setting up shop are mostly hiring Thais and are paying tax and ss for them which you can’t say for most Thai run businesses. So start taxing your workers, businesses and mom and pops roadside shops and see what happens. Either your revenue will go up or places will shut down. The amount of Thais paying taxes is laughable to the foreigners who must pay. The days of having your cake and eating it to are long gone.

What makes that ex-MP so keen to help own people lose their jobs?

These " nominee business" often employs Thai nationals as well.

Busting and closing down such establishments  get those  workers out of jobs.
