I've read it and it states quite unequivocally that it can only be invoked under two specific sets of circumstances, as follows.

1. There is a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government ....

2. [If] any invasion or predatory incursion is perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States by any foreign nation or government ...

Perhaps you can tell us which of those two sets of circumstances you think apply to the current situation.

Nice how you you deliberately leave out the important language

"and the President of the United States shall make public proclamation of the event"

He did. Go find another hill to die on other than taking the side of terrorists

Under the US immigration rules if they were found to be illegal immigrants they can of course be deported to their countries of origin. They weren't deported to their countries of origin though were they, they were rounded up, without any apparent judicial process, under a dubious application of a 250 year old law, itself intended for use in wartime, and sent post haste to a third country, which it would appear has been paid to take them. There, in that third country, they will be incarcerated in conditions which are internationally condemned. They will be kept, without having been convicted or remanded, for at least a year. No charge, no court hearing, no conviction. They have, effectively, been "disappeared"

A legal sanction was available, deport them to Venezuela. Instead they were sent to a third country which is being paid to detain them indefinitely.

They may be criminals, but that has to be proven before they are jailed. That is what courts are for. Even as criminals, even as foreigners, even as blood polluting brown people, they have rights. El Salvador and the Trump administration are mocking the courts.

I wonder how many, perhaps were legally resident, or even maybe US citizens? We will never know, they have effectively disappeared. Is there even a list of names?

I would bet it wouldn't happen if they were white!

Were they not taken from detention centres as opposed to off the street? Perhaps that was missing from the OP

They came from the same 'third world' country theyve been sent back to... so at least its not costing the US tax payer which is what Trump campainged on.

You know obama deported more people in his time than any other president combined... he was dubbed 'the reporter in chief'.... perhaps that slipped the MSM news cycle.

Fewer Americans than Obama had executed by drone strike, by executive order, without trial.

For whom Donald Trump fought for immunity. Barry should send Don a thank you card

No, they were from Venezuela, they were sent to a third country, El Salvador, which is being paid to imprison them, for an indeterminate period, without legal representation, in savage conditions.

The US, in abusing an obsolete and discredited law, which was not intended for this purpose, shackling them, denying them "due process", paying a third party to imprison them outside of US jurisdiction, deliberately ignoring it's own courts, and  whose President, having boasted of ordering the deportations now claims it "was done by someone else"; are showing a disregard for law and basic human rights which is distinctly "third world"!

Foreign invaders should have no rights, beyond the right to leave.

Next you'll be wanting Chinese paratroopers that invade the USA to be covered by the constitution.

Oh for crying out loud, did you bang your head when you fell down Mr Trumps immigration rabbit hole?

No, I just wonder why you want foreign criminals to have all these rights when in your country, smacks of treason to me.

As for your president, don't really care, would suggest your party offer better candidates if you want a different government. At this moment in the west, people end up voting for the least worse candidate as nobody suitable is ever on the ballot forms.

1) I'm not an American

2) I don't think you understand what treason is!

Treason is deliberately acting against the interests of your country.

Treason is defined by "Oxford Language" as the act of " the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government."

I don't think that extends to disagreement with the policies or actions of one's own (or in this case) another country's government.

Now personally I quite simply (and perhaps naively) believe that all governments should adhere to the rule of law and basic human rights. This is particularly the case of those countries which aspire to be democracies; very very many of course fail miserably in this. But the USA claims to be the world leader in such matters, so I criticise; and the USA's current government, in this matter, has particularly egregiously failed to follow law or basic human rights.

As I said, I am not an American, so it cannot be treason, not that it fits the definition anyway. Were I an American it would still not be treason, simply legitimate and well founded criticism.

For their own citizens.

This shouldn't be the hill the dems want to die on. Pick your battles.

They're brainwashed.  And they probably don't realize that the optics aren't favorable.  It's sort of funny, when you think about it.  That's been the story of the "Democrat" party for a while, right?  Take the most ridiculous nonsense possible, and try to make it seem "normal.."

They would worry about pronouns and culturally appropriate food for the people sent there.

Obviously you arent american. Your posts dont show someone with an american perspective, just your own selfish perspective

When that perspective becomes clouded by (or arguably driven by) slogans such as "America First", "Make America Great Again", silly stunts such as unilaterally renaming international bodies of water, and claims on the territory and sovereignty of other countries, then selfishness on the part of us "untermenschen" is perhaps relative?

It's got nothing to do with defending criminals. It's about defending the law.

They entered the US illegally, they get deported, they have  embassiesnof all countries, so let them step in if what you say is true, (which I doubt), i

Its just MSM theatre in order to discredit Trumps policy of deporting illegals

well if any Americans were deported by mistake we will hear about it. So far no American family members have stepped forward saying their brother/cousin whatever was wrongfully removed. Not one  single case.

Why would any sane person want to block sending 260 criminals that have entered the country illegally out of the country

Not all of the people sent to the El Salvador hell hole entered illegally.

They weren't vetted properly.

We know that some of them were not even gang members and certainly many had no criminal records.

Do you want to be a citizen of a country that stops having due process?

Nobody is against deporting people that deserve deporting back to their home countries after they have been afforded due process to have their specific cases examined.

Do you understand what El Salvador is doing to these prisoners? We may say well it's their country, they can do what they want to their OWN citizens. But what fascist Trump is doing is totally different than that.

The ICC is nothing. Id love to see them arrest Benny, Israel Commandos vs the Dutch? Yikes, lets bet on that one. Do the Dutch even have soldiers?

Yes. 25 of them died in the American led war in Afghanistan - you do revel in fatuous yet deeply offensive xenophobic ignorance don't you?
