A domestic dispute in the town of Klaeng, Rayong, escalated dramatically when a woman used a cleaver to injure her husband after a disagreement over dinner.

The incident occurred on the evening of 15 March at a rented house in the Ban Kram area. Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find 50-year-old Sak Sitti sitting in pain, bleeding from multiple injuries. He had been struck on the head and left ankle with a cleaver by his wife, 48-year-old Boonyanuch.

According to Boonyanuch’s account, the altercation began during her birthday celebration when she made a pot of Tom Yum Gai, soup for dinner. Her husband, sitting outside with male friends, requested chicken rice instead. Boonyanuch reportedly responded, “We have soup, why don’t you eat that?” This sparked a heated argument, with her husband reportedly becoming angry and approaching her with an object.

In self-defense, Boonyanuch grabbed a cleaver from the kitchen and swung it at her husband, striking him twice. Neighbours intervened and called for emergency services, who arrived to administer first aid before transporting Sak to the hospital.

At present, the police have not pressed charges, as the incident appears to be a domestic matter. They are awaiting Sak’s decision on whether to file a formal complaint, which will determine if further action will be taken against his wife.
