In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old man named Pairoh, whose surname remains undisclosed, passed away in custody at Khlong Tan Police Station. Pairoh was detained on March 15 for causing a disturbance at Soi Phatthanakan 10 Intersection 1, reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The next day, March 16, his family visited the detention cell around 10 am, only to find him unconscious with laboured breathing and a faint pulse. Despite efforts to save him, the Por Teck Tung Foundation confirmed his death shortly thereafter.

Pairoh's family has revealed that he suffered from a heart condition and was a long-term drug user. The untimely death has prompted an investigation, with police already collaborating with prosecutors, forensic experts, and pathologists to determine the cause.

An autopsy has been scheduled to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding Pairoh's death. As investigations continue, the community awaits clarity and accountability from the authorities, reported The Thaiger.

People dying in prison cells. Hope this isn't a trend.

How come the visiting family discovered him semi conscious and needing medical attention and not the police who arrested him.

Apparently the police didn’t want to get into a medical emergency. Too much paperwork. Wait for the family to come and notice. 90 % of this force needs to be replaced with real policemen willing to do their jobs, but Thailand won’t pay for that.

Condemning the police, par for the course.
After a bout of drinking, you think they might have assumed he was sleeping it off?
Doesn't appear to be any malice here as even his family state he had heart issues and was a drug user.
