Where are all these 'scary looking farangs' you talk of ??

Without exception, almost everywhere I look.

That SO* just created Another Reason why its home country should be delisted from the Visa waiver scheme of this kingdom

Wish that thing dropped dead by the high voltage shock from the cop's stun gun.

I'm living in the wrong part of the country, I think.

I was too lazy to get on a plane to Chiang Mai.

You never saw guys whose entire faces are tattooed, I guess.

Lucky you. You chose a better part of the country to live in.

I have lived in Thailand for almost forty years.  I have a wonderful Thai family and many Thai friends.  Yet, when I read some of the posts on this forum which was originally designed to inform foreigners and make life easier for them to live here, I see many of the same people posting hateful and insulting comments about Thailand and Thai people.  Why?  If you are that miserable and have such a strong dislike of Thailand and Thais why do you stay?  Please either take your intolerance and hate back to your home countries or refrain from making vile and unhelpful comments.

Thailand is my chosen home and when you insult the country and its people you are insulting my family and friends.  Go away or shut up!

Thank you

In my case for many years longer. I do not understand what the appalling behaviour of the Iranian has to do with your posting. Seems to be totally irrelevant

Maybe you're taking the comments too personally. I've lived here since 1984. I attribute the rude comments about Thais and Thailand to foreigners who are unhappy for whatever reason. Perhaps ask God to bless them and help them to find happiness and see the beauty in people, instead of telling the foreigners to ...

There is nothing in this thread attacking Thais or Thai culture that calls for this reaction….if you feel that strongly about your observations, why do you waste your time reading comments or start a new thread to air your grievances

At 40 years living here plus years prior, you make sound like most of your life is now in your rear view mirror

Rarely.

And with good reason.

Who's to say that I might not also meet up with some crazy Iranian wielding a syringe?

Nothing to do with foreigners or tourists.

It's all about the drugs of which some are freely available and consumed and others not.

Fight rather against drug trafficking....not against foreigners who make this country live with their money.

I’m not going to read it. Just shut down Phuket. Close that shot island off and erase it from memory. Thai niggas played too hard, threw all their chips in on it. It is what it is. Bad decision as I crip walk on your sorry sad asses. Speak of the Devil?  Here I am. Abracadabra, bitches.

What is so wrong with you that you boarded the windows and locked the doors?  Open the blinds, bro. It’s not as bad as it’s made out to be. Take a walk outside instead of waking up contemplating what you next stupid post will be.  Go outside, dude.  I mean this with love.

a. I like a very DARK bedroom for sleeping.

b. I don't like dust in my bedroom. The bedroom windows are now completely sealed, which helps much with the reduction of dust infiltrating inside.

c. You are correct about walking outdoors. Fortunately, I do have very nice areas to walk, with few cars, no roosters, and only friendly dogs.

c2. But, I am lazy by nature. Overcoming inertia to return to daily walking is not so easy, or not until the time that one returns to the daily habit of walking.

c3. Once out and about, of course, then the positive vibes of the flora and fauna immediately reinforces one.

c4. The main problem, though, is that I live inside a very nice compound with birds, some mango trees, and plenty of myna birds.  And, I find it difficult to leave this idyllic gilded cage.

A bit of hyperbole there mate.. dragging you family and friends into it, fact is, Thai's  and Thailand, have many issues, more so than many western countries  that doesn't mean we hate all Thais  Thailand, we just see facts.

He was not referring to the Iranians behavior, but regarding the AN members comments. This I agree 100% with him - many foreigners living in Thailand keeps on bashing the Thai people & Thailand - yes, why not find a better place and move on?

Just my honest opinion and how I understood the comment.

yes, why not find a better place and move on?" Because a lot of us have loving Thai families and have been settled here for years.

Think of Thailand 20 years ago, then think of it today. I rest my case.

Yes I agree somewhat, but it's a bit off thread, being the post is about a mad Iranian with the needle.

All in all thats just a very odd statement to make - as if the area you chose to live has all the guys with face tattoos and nowhere else does...     Your point, well, it doesn't really make a point.

I still don't know where all these scary farangs are... I just see loads of people hanging out, and sometimes see the odd one behaving like a tool, then of course we get the social media which disproportionately magnifies issues much to the pleasures of the hangem-high brigade....

You raise a valid point, but it’s important to distinguish between hateful intolerance and genuine, thoughtful observation.

There are some contributors on this forum who appear to harbour a deep-seated resentment towards virtually every aspect of life in Thailand. Their posts often come across as unhinged, emotionally unbalanced, and at times, verge on the paranoid - as if the entire country is somehow conspiring against them.

In contrast, many others have integrated well into their local communities. They maintain meaningful friendships with Thai people and engage in open, respectful conversations - not all of which are relentlessly positive.

These individuals are capable of discussing Thailand’s shortcomings in a constructive manner, and often discover that their Thai peers share similar concerns. In fact, many of the criticisms raised here mirror sentiments expressed within Thai-language forums.

The problem arises when those offering balanced, nuanced critiques; for instance, on issues like road safety, are hastily labelled as Thai-bashers or even racists.

This reaction tends to come from individuals who fail to recognise that such criticism can coexist with a deep appreciation for Thailand and its many strengths.

Thailand is not without its flaws - no country is - and it is both reasonable and healthy to discuss these imperfections. Acknowledging them does not negate the fact that, for many, Thailand remains a strong net positive overall.

To get back to the subject of syringe wielding Iranian, these people who are clearly ill , tourists or not, should be accompanied back to their home land once cleared by doctors. There are quite a few mentally deranged foreigners  walking free in Thailand. They should be sent home and banned , for the good of everyone.  The sudden rise in mainly harmless hallucinating druggies don’t belong here either. They most often end up in very bad situations. I blame advertising Thailand as a cheap free for all, with cannabis shops on every street, ( and all the other drugs we are hearing about in the news, ) and the cheap sex which is everywhere and out of control, with fights  etc which has given Thailand a VERY bad  reputation. It will get worse.

Some fair points… Thailand hasn’t been a “cheap” destination for quite some time, yet the myth stubbornly persists. Combine that with the easy access to cannabis, and it’s no surprise the country draws more than its fair share of drifters and wasters.....  many of whom quickly find themselves spiralling into difficult financial situations. That, in turn, creates pressure points, and eventually… something gives.

The simplest solution, of course, is to deport them. But that alone isn’t enough. When someone assaults others with a syringe and the only consequence is a free flight home, that’s not justice, it’s a getaway.

If the message being received is, “act out and you’ll just be sent packing,” then any real deterrent vanishes. And without consequences, the cycle repeats.

I'm not part of the 'hang-em high crowd' and believe any foreigners acting out should face exactly the same consequences as Thai's after found committing the same crimes.
