Popular Post snoop1130 Posted yesterday at 09:17 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 09:17 AM Pictures courtesy of Liverpool Echo Richard Burrows, an infamous British pedophile, has finally faced justice after evading capture for nearly three decades. He was living under a fake identity in Thailand. The 80-year-old was found guilty at Chester Crown Court of 54 horrendous crimes against young boys. The court detailed his appalling actions on March 17, which included indecent assault and creating indecent images of children. Burrows, currently held at HMP Altcourse, had already admitted to 43 charges, including using false identity documents to escape law enforcement. He is awaiting sentencing for 97 offences on April 7. His crimes date back to 1968, affecting 26 boys in areas like Cheshire and the West Midlands. As a housemaster and scout leader, he abused his role to prey on vulnerable boys. In the 1990s, spurred by similar abuse scandals, victims began speaking out. A thorough investigation by Cheshire Police led to Burrows' initial arrest in April 1997. However, he escaped after being granted bail, prompting a nationwide manhunt. Despite widespread appeals, his whereabouts remained unknown for years. The breakthrough came in April 2023 when advanced software identified him living as "Peter Smith" in Phuket, Thailand. He had been living under a stolen identity and was known locally for his involvement in advertising and sailing. He was caught at Heathrow Airport after surveillance by Thai police and the UK's National Crime Agency. Detective Inspector Eleanor Atkinson of Cheshire Police led the investigation. She expressed relief at the trial outcome, emphasizing the persistent pursuit of justice. "This case is a warning: no matter how long you hide, we will find you, and you will face justice," she stated. The conviction of Burrows sends a strong message about the unwavering efforts to seek justice for victims of sexual offences. Atkinson urges victims to speak out, reassuring them of comprehensive support from police and allied agencies. The bravery of Burrows' victims and law enforcement's relentless pursuit ensured justice was served in the end. Anyone with further information is urged to contact Cheshire Police, as continued cooperation ensures comprehensive justice, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-03-18 8 5 6

Popular Post Wuvu2 Posted 16 hours ago Popular Post Posted 16 hours ago It's not as if there has been a manhunt all these years, they caught him on re-entry to Heathrow. Sounds like he could have ridden out of his years in Thailand. Dumb move to return to the scene of the crime 😔 4 1 4 15

renaissanc Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago He'll spend his last 10 or so years in prison and die there. This will make him really unhappy. He knows he won't experience freedom ever again and that will hurt him every day. Mods edit - I have removed the off topic political comment part of this post. 2

Captain Flack Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago This story has nothing to do with a Bangkok blogger of a similar name. Any reference to that person is off topic and will be removed. This is the second notice already in this topic. Any further reference will see further action against the poster. 1 1

Apparently he just ran out of money after almost 20 years, so faced with the prospect of being homeless in Thailand he just thought sod it, at least in the nick he gets a bed and something to eat. At 80 years old, he probably can't even do the stuff he was convicted of doing anymore, so perhaps not such a bad move on his part. he can't have long left anyway... What makes me laugh is how the cops try to present this as some sort of win on their behalf, their relentless pursuit of justice bla bla bla... They didn't have the first clue where he was and I'm not sure I believe their claim they "suddenly" tracked him down just before he decided to turn himself in 1 1 3 7
Popular Post captnhoy Posted 14 hours ago Popular Post Posted 14 hours ago I too do not see the big victory for law enforcement. His known crimes date back to 1968 so it seems he managed 57 years of freedom to be himself. 1 5

Zack61 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago He's probably one of many predators laying low in Thailand. Good riddance and if enough stones are turned over we could rid ourselves of more. No tolerance for his kind and it would be justice for him to rot in jail. 1

He faked his ID in 1997, long before birth & death records were fully computerized and put on comprehensive databases. Today, nearly impossible to get a passport that will pass modern biometric and AI reinforced Immigration checkpoints. Most passports have hidden verification codes. About the only way is to go to a very corrupt nation and buy citizenship and a Passport. The days of searching graveyards for the headstones of dead kids are long gone. The fact they were able to finally identify and nail this guy shows how far the technology has advanced. 2 2
