I noticed that when you upgrade your method of coffee making, the improved coffee is noticeable the first time and then it just goes back to being normal coffee

I'm aware that Splenda isn't as  safe as they'd like you think, as it can cause stomach issues. I've used it for many years without any problems, but I'm more leaning towards Stevia. The chlorination is a concern but salt itself has as many atoms of chlorine in it.

Yes life is sweeter with sugar, i have 1.5 teaspoons in tea, 1 in coffee when out exercising and 2 tablespoons in mixed fruit smoothies, great. BTW having  sugar in smoothies is better than high fructose syrup which is standard when out

Coffee is all about compromises for me.

I have settled on a Dulce Gusto machine for my bleary eyed, why did I get a job?, mornings.

Convenient and as fast as instant.

Easy, minimal cleaning.

Uses cartridges so will mess up your relationship with Greta Thunberg.

Best compromise I have found.

 

I find the Cafe au Lait to be nice.

Cue the insults about "real coffee" but I am happy with it.

If you look carefully there are about 4 different zero sugar/sweetener types available, the 2 Birdy, a Robusta & an Arabica both in tins,  the Suntory Boss and the Cafe Amazon both in plastic bottles

No ide how people can tell the difference between coffees  when then have milk and sugar.. ?

 

Understand the French they have small cups + very strong coffee + 6 or so sugar lumps -   myself always have large coffee + jug of hot water in France

The more you add, the less you taste the coffee but good coffee will always taste better than average, especially the less you put in it. When I first tried the Vietnamese last week, with only a tad of sugar, it sold me on how good Vietnamese actually is. Never had coffee so rich besides espresso.

I only looked as far as the Robusta. Maybe I am not as meticulous as you.

I have 2 of them that I used in Watford where there was a superb coffee roster and I could get many different coffee beans.
 

When I was in Japan and now here where good fresh roasted isn’t easily (or ever) available I switched to cold brewing. I am now less able to be a coffee connoisseur but the benefits to me of cold infused (I won’t say brewed because that requires heat) coffee are great. The caffeine is still there, the acidity is virtually gone, the oils have not been heated so do not go rancid (this is why if you hot brew after half an hour or so of keeping hot it becomes unpleasant). Now I can have a thermos of hot coffee and the flavour is the same however long it’s been kept.

The only downside is that smell is almost nonexistent 

 

PS if you grind your own beans, freeze them and the grind will be better. Also freeze your fresh ground coffee, it will be better for longer.

Salt is an inorganic compound. One chlorine atom. Sucralose ( Splenda ) has three chlorine atoms substituted for hydroxyl groups.

Many different opinions on the subject but eating anything in moderation isn't that harmful, and the amount of chlorine in Sucralose,  Splenda isn't a worry to people as much as the effects it may have on the digestive system if consumed n large quantities................

I am consuming protein, a small amount of fat, collagen, and low carb vegetables. My BMI is normal.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

 

Animal studies are basically useless. Every species responds differently to a toxin.

 

How many of the 110 studies in humans were conducted over 20-30 years, to determine long-term effects?
