Hello, looking for some recommendations or names of any beachfront hotels that are literally "on the beach".  Some elderly family members are visiting Thailand and want to stay in one of those hotels that has 'huts' or 'cabins' right on the beach. I am fairly sure these types of place exist in Samui or Krabi etc, but for logistical reasons I would prefer them to stay nearer to Bangkok. and nearer to civilization in general.

Does anyone know of any such places in the vicinity of Pattaya for example? Away from all the chaos of the centre obviously, but near enough to make the occasion trip to some malls or tourist attractions. Along that coast, considering Koh Chang also but that might be a bit far. Hua Hin also an option, but not sure that this type of place exists there.

Grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

You need islands like Samet or Chang to be right on the beach.

Thanks, do you know or recommend any hotels like this on Koh Chang?  I went to Samet about 10 yrs back and I am not sure it is suitable for them due to bad roads etc.

Birds & Bees Resort Pattaya has 2 rooms right on the beach. and the hotel is absolute beachside with a great Thai restaurant called cabbages & condoms.

Thanks, wasn't aware they had beach front rooms. I had a look and they are way above budget. Also would prefer to be further away from the centre of Pattaya ideally.

Islands are best for tropical getaway.

There are ones in Pattaya like the Palm Wongamat that are right on the beach and can be booked weekly on AirBnB  - it's not a good beach for swimming but looks nice and has nice pools. Na Jomtiem has a fair few options right on the beach. Jomtiem too if you don't mind crossing Beach road .

Koh Chang has the following fairly affordable nice options - depending on season:

KC Grande - 4 star - rooms on beach much better than hillside

Kacha - 3 star - fair cost and hillside rooms not bad

Sylvan - 4 star - beautiful set in forest and right on beach Rooms all have amazing outlook. Recommend beach front rooms.

Bhumiyama Plus - right on beautiful Lonely beach - has been fixed up after being a bit run down for some time

I think Thailand's hotel's are way overpriced, look to Vietnam, I'm heading to Phu Quoc tomorrow staying at the Dusit, my BIL is staying at Phuong Binh House Hotel for about 900 baht a night, they have some bungalows right on the beach too.

I can have one night at the Dusit plus return air fare to Chiang Rai for the same price as 1 night at the KataThani Phuket where I've gone many years in a row.

I'm staying 8 nights for about the same as 2 nights at the KataThani.

Thanks, I will check those out. Are the places in Jomtien/Na Jomtien you mentioned hotel/resorts or private condos you can rent?

If your thing is Phuket me and my misses just got back from a small domestic break there we stayed Tropica Beach Resort right on the beach road, close enough to the lights of bangla and a small walk to jungceylon reasonably priced also for the Central location can still hear the bangla music a little bit at nighttime but not loud enough so you can't sleep but couldn't get a more perfect location we loved it taking my family there in a few months

If you take a drive down to Prachuap and go a bit further south you will find all kinds of nice little resorts all along the beach.

It is a very nice drive and i stayed there somewhere last year during a bike trip but i can't remember the name.

Go during the week but now with the school holidays it may be a bit busier.

I paid 500 baht for a decent room with aircon and hot shower.

We saw a lot of resorts all along the beach there.

Just drive inside ,look around and ask for a price.

Some have food and some don't but finding a nice place to eat is never a problem here.

The beach itself was beautiful and the water clean.

Yes I am considering that area also, will have a look. The key factor is finding a place that has rooms/chalets right on the beach to stay in, that is what they are looking for first and foremost.

Condos for Na Jomtiem -  I am not that familiar with them but a search on AirBnB brings up beach front ones that it seems can be booked by the week.

You might like to research it.  It's very much a family hotel with rabbits in the garden for kids to play with.  Cabbages & Condoms is a chain of restaurants throughout Thailand run by a foundation founded by Meechai Viravaidya.

Most farang in Pattaya probably don't even know about the beach it is on.  It's invisible & inaccessible from Wongamat Beach, Pattaya Beach, Sugar Beach, Dongtan Beach or Jomtien Beach.  It's completely invisible from almost everywhere except the Birds & Bees Resort & The Asia Hotel.  I stayed at the Birds & Bees Resort in 2006 and it was instrumental in my deciding to buy some condos and move there in April 2007.
