A 21-year-old Tunisian tourist was arrested in Pattaya’s Walking Street after going on a drunken rampage, holding a Thai woman hostage, and threatening bar patrons with a broken bottle. At around 09:00 on 25 March, police from Pattaya Tourist Police and Pattaya City Police Station, led by Lieutenant Colonel Torlap Tinamat and Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dusadee, responded to an urgent call from Pattaya’s security team. Reports indicated that a foreign man had taken a Thai woman hostage and was threatening people with a broken bottle. Upon arrival, officers found the Tunisian man in a highly agitated state, dressed only in his underwear and gripping a broken bottle and restraining a Thai woman while shouting accusations: “Why did you steal my money?” Police negotiated with him for over an hour, during which he verbally abused officers and made obscene gestures. Eventually, he released the woman and ran into a nearby nightclub. When negotiations failed, officers stormed the premises and subdued him before taking him into custody. Ms. Sukanya, 44, a bar owner, stated that the Tunisian man had arrived with a Thai woman, believed to be a bar worker. They drank beer and played pool until the suspect, heavily intoxicated, suddenly accused the woman of stealing his money. He then smashed a bottle, used it as a weapon, and began chasing people around the bar, causing panic among customers and injuring several. Ms. Nan 34, the alleged victim, confirmed she met the Tunisian tourist near Pattaya Beach before they went drinking together. She insisted that the suspect only had 500 baht when he paid for drinks, and she never stole any money. When he became aggressive, he grabbed her by the neck and held her hostage demanding she confess. Local security personnel arrived and saw the suspect restraining the woman with a broken bottle. As they approached, he pushed her away and fled into a nightclub. Police were immediately called in and successfully apprehended him after an intense standoff. At the Pattaya City Police Station, the suspect remained highly intoxicated, incoherent, and continued to hurl insults at officers. He was detained on charges of public intoxication and causing a public disturbance, with legal proceedings to follow. -- 2025-03-26 1 4 1 5

Maxbkkcm Posted March 26 Posted March 26 How did we get there? Where the trashiest people ever can move freely, travel abundantly? How do they have means to do all sorts of things? I always associate money with some work ethics ect. Apparently its not. Also, how in an expensive world, inflation and so on. Where supposidely the economy is in shamble? I call it lie. Can so many people afford so many things , travels included. Shouldnt be the opposite? More people consume and do more than lets say 15 to 10yrs ago. Doesnt make any sense to me. 1 1

Popular Post cdemundo Posted March 26 Popular Post Posted March 26 I would like to see a scoring system similar to Olympic gymnastics which could be used to score the drunken antics leading to arrest. On a 0 - 10 scale I put this guy at 8.5 because of the dramatic underwear pose which I think elevated his performance. 3
Don Giovanni Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Oh my golly gosh! Look at the state of him in the picture. These kind of things never happen in Japan. Don.
Scouse123 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 The only thing I can say, and I was in business in Pattaya from 1997-2008, is we did not have to put up with all this stuff that's going on down there now. It just didn't happen. The Arabs were limited to what was the Arab quarter. They weren't flying around fighting and lawless on high-powered bikes. Also, Thailand wasn't full of bargain bucket flights, (I know flights have shot up post Covid) but we didn't get nor attract bucket and spade tourists either. Most of our clientele dressed for dinner, the customers went to the beaches and islands in the daytime and hung around in seafood restaurants around walking street, when they couldn't be bothered with the beach. It was way more refined, especially in the nineties. There were plenty of classy places with live entertainment and piano bars etc. Lady boys accosting a tourist was big news back in the nineties, and it wasn't often. Thefts did happen, but not like it is now. The women wanted to be with you for as long as they possibly could, and did some fabulous gestures voluntarily, such as taking the laundry to the shop without asking you, etc. The people then really wanted to please, and everything seemed much happier in those days and friendlier. It was 4.5 hours to 5 hours from Bangkok to Pattaya then and no highways. Drinking mostly began as the sun went down. A daytime drunk was indeed a rarity. Nor were we full of Chinese scammers or Russians. The Russians, that first started arriving around 2002, were very well-heeled and spent a fortune. We loved them as customers, because of their spending power. They did, however, keep themselves very much to themselves. The Royal Cliffe was a firm favourite of the Russians. We did have Chinese tour groups, but they were shepherded around on buses, and the most we saw of them was being led by a guide at the front with a flag. Those definitely were the good old days, Pattaya has changed forever, and it isn't for the better. 1 1

Aussie999 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 As usual we see posts blaming the foreigner, and saying what should happen to him... But most sensible people know damn well we do not know the full story or the truth, we do know what can happen in Thailandfrom both tourists, from Thais and especially when a street/bar girl are concerned, I find it happen to condemn anyone without knowing facts 1

black tabby12345 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Another human shaped vermin. Deserves to get shot at sight. Toting with other people's life, means renouncing own rights to live on. One more nasty result from the visa waiver scheme from 93 nations.
