Bangkok Shop Owner Defends Right to Sell Controversial Shirts

Featured Replies

This is second hand clothing! If they want to complain go after the person who manufactured it or the person who bought it originally and then donated it, or the charities that collected it and then sent it overseas. Problem is thailand lives in it's own little bubble and kids are not taught about the holocaust r other atrocities committed by Hitler. She is not forcing people,e to purchase these items, problem comes when thais buy a swastika or Hitler shirt then travel to places where it could get them in serious trouble

I recall when stalls were selling Osama Bin Laden T-shirts....    I thought at the time...  there's a segment of society here that is incredibly juvenile and insensitive to world events.

Didn't you insult harrisfan first?  By writing, "you silly little man."?

Lefties are allowed to insult people. They get to decide what's right and wrong. What shirts and caps people can wear.

If you actually read the OP properly and HarrisFan comments and my replies you  MIGHT understand!

1980s you had music shirts with rude slogans. Lefties wore them.

What's the difference?

It looks like it in your case.

Understand what? That you get offended by shirts? What a sad case. Personally I would never wear 90% of them but would not get offended.

Here we are again. A non-political OP about Thailand and you have to come up with a rant about Pres. Trump in the USA.

Yes, I apologize for this. I am so very disappointed in Trump's reelection that I see examples of his actions everywhere, perhaps even, like this one, where there is no real connection.

No, the left are all saints. Their farts don't even smell.

Trump would prohibit any speech he disagrees with. An example is the support of Palestinians and criticism of Israel.

T-shirts with pictures of Putin, Hitler, George Washington, or Jesus are all the same. They are free speech. They should not be censored.

The left, like me, is not spreading "misinformation." The left, like me, is just expressing their opinions. If you disagree with these, you claim they are lies. They are not. They are valid opinions that probably go against your beliefs. I believe in free speech to the extreme, as long as it is not a direct incitement to violence. The old example is falsely "yelling 'Fire!' in a crowded theater. But you could do that if there were a fire, or even if you legitimately thought there was.

Let me see ....  X previous to Elon owning it.   Doing the bidding of the biden administration and censoring conservative speach.   But, but, that is a private business the left said.

X (or what ever it is called now) censoring certain  speech by leftists, (I think it was incitation of violence, but I could be wrong about that ), speech that was in violations of the terms of service ... the left .... Elon is censoring free speech.

The left, pushing the steele dossier as truth about Trump.   Turns out it was the left and hillary paid to have the lies disseminated.

The left, pushing, the hunter biden laptop is russian propaganda. Supported by news and democrat politicians.   Turns out that it was misinformation but claiming it was, was democrat propaganda, AKA misinformation.

How about leftist opinion that Trump is a racist and hates blacks, when he had received honors from black organizations.   The leftist "opinion" about Trump is, leftist "misinformation"!

" If you disagree with these, you claim they are lies.".  Tell me where I claimed you were telling lies?

Why Democrats must confront extreme left wing incitement to violence

How do you read something "properly"?

I read the words, I understand the words, I understand the meaning of the words, I understand the context of the word in their use.

So tell me, how do I read something properly?

The left hates John Wayne now too. He said a couple of racist things therefore bad. But Biden said racist things and they voted for him :cheesy:

Damn!   I wish my farts didn't smell.   Just a few days ago, I farted and had to leave the room, it was so bad.  Grandkids were asking, what smells so bad?

Almost makes me want to be a leftist.   At least when I fart I mean!

You accused me of knowingly disseminating misinformation. IMO, those are just three big words that together mean "telling lies."

I think the shop owners where a Male and Female -  They do have the right to sell whatever they chose within the legal confines.

However, thats the whole point of the thread and initial discussion - There's a moral grey area in which such images exists - Pol Pot, Che, Osama etc have all been mentioned in this discussion, then there are the 'language T-shirt's'...  It is accepted to walk around with a T-shirt that says F**K the World or perhaps worse ?

This all falls under freedom of speech and freedom of expression and in order to maintain that we also have to respect it and think.

So, does that mean when a leftist claims someone is giving out, misinformation, they are claiming that the the someone is lying?

So, your claim that "Trump would prohibit any speech he disagrees with."  How is that not, "misinformation"?  Do you have any factual evidence that he would do that?

My original comment remains valid.

I don't own them or sell them. Why are you blaming me? Weird.

Go visit the shop and tell the couple they are bad people.

If the guy being pushed out of the shop is so upset, he has 2 choices.

1 He can buy them all and do what he wants with them.

2 He can simply walk on by and ignore the shirts, the shop and the owner.

What he does NOT have the right to do. is to tell the owner what she can or cannot sell.

She does NOT have the right to sell what she wants. For example suppose she had T shirts depicting anti Buddhist images? Would she demand the right to sell those?

Or other obscene or distasteful images, depicting sad war or child images.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere. Is no one sensitive to these issues, does no one care?

You continue to deflect from my original comment that is about the message, not the shirts per se!

Don't be deflector all your life

Take a day off - or preferably 25 years!

Thai laws don't ban Hitler shirts it seems. So she isn't doing anything wrong. Heck they probably make 500 baht a day ffs.

What message? Why are you blaming me again? Weirdo

Does anyone ever see thai people selling any imperial japanese shirts? I would think they are more caring of the consequences when it comes to offending the chinese than white people
