particularly after I was assaulted in Lopburi and no action was taken

Looks like you could well be jumping from the frying pan into the fire, then, if you're headed for Melbourne or Sydney!

It's not just Pattaya. It's most of the popular beach town resorts with foreigners. Overpriced. Cheating from everything to anything. Rude attitude from some locals towards foreigners. Quite sad to see the turn things have taken...yes, yes..."you no like it, you leave.."...yes, yes we know that...but still....if all falangs leave, no more money to pay back the loan for the pick up, the car of the Missus, the 3 homes back in the village and the lifestyle of the Missus and the Mia Noi's. So perhaps think it over ?

According to your posts, you haven't reached puberty yet.

Hahaha according to your posts all you seem to care about is beef, maybe you are trying to over compensate for something?
Also you have a basic lack of understanding of the English language and grammar seeing as how in another thread you can't spell "marbels" :coffee1:
Its all good though nothing to be shy about in this community we will guide you through your inadequacies 😉

If I was an Academic which I am to a degree ,I would do a thesis on how many single farangs GO BACK to their home country , disillusioned at retiring in Pattaya

Really I should be called Dr George because I study this ...

But let's paint a rosy colour

"Oh I wake up every morning, go for my walk on the nice beach

Then have my $2 big breakfast of bacon eggs and sausages

Then I head to get a $2 foot massage

And then have a afternoon nap

Then I go to a lovely bar and talk to Roger the dodger  blah blah blah

And wake up....and do it again

And in Australia you will be doing what exactly? Pay 20 bucks at a local cafe for a coffee and bun? Go home and watch the footy? At least your weekly doctor visits will be free 555

Not every farang is rich and supportive of local economy. If a Thai ask you to leave if you do not like it here, take it up to his/her superior. Make money work for you.
thais generally equate money to power and power to subservience. It is in their patriarchal patronage culture. If you stayed in an upscale community or hotel, you get respect and good service from all walks of life. It is what it is.
If Thais treat you lesser than you think you deserved, then if their eyes, you matter not much in their sphere of existence.

George, do you know what 'woke' means?  You're the AN posterboy for wokeness 555

I just spent 8 months at Dusit Grand Park. My room was 27m2 with a kitchen and a washing machine on the poolside patio. I walked out of my room and jumped into the pool whenever I felt like it. Rent was 10k/month.  Tons of great looking Russian women lounging around the pool- sorry - you're gay so that doesn't mean much to you but it's a bonus for the rest of us. At night the area is bustling with young Russian families; the debauched Pattaya lifestyle nowhere in sight, yet one could access it if the urge took them.

It's 400m (I measured it) to Rompho and there are Thai food stalls outside the gate under a covered area that sell delicious khrapao for 50 baht. I probably passed you a few times on my motorbike. There isn't much room for pedestrians on that stretch of road.

None of what I've described would be an ideal place for many people, but I loved it. Wake up early, go for a swim, then breakfast and a long motorbike ride.  To me, ownership of my time and good weather are 99 percent of the retirement equation. No need to get up to an alarm clock and put on the mask many of us wear in our daily lives. Everything else is gravy.

All of that said, motorbike trips up to Isaan and the north added a lot of joy when the daily routine got to be too routine. Isaan is a great region, it's easy to understand why many men choose to live there.
