Motorcyclist Killed After Being Crushed by 22-Wheel Truck in Nonthaburi
Picture from responders. A crash in the early hours of 8 April has claimed the life of a 54-year-old man after his motorcycle was struck and subsequently run over by a 22-wheel container truck in Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi. The incident occurred just after midnight on the outbound side of Tiwanon Road, just before the entrance to the Moo Baan Sahakon 3 estate in Bang Phut sub-district. Officers from Pak Kret Police Station, along with emergency responders from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, responded to the call and secured the scene. At the site, the lifeless body of Mr. Charan Piatong, 54, from Nakhon Sawan province, was discovered lying beside his black Honda Click motorcycle. His injuries were severe, with reports stating his head had been crushed. The motorcycle bore the registration from Nakhon Ratchasima. Approximately 100 metres away, police located the vehicle involved, a Hino 22-wheel articulated lorry, carrying a shipping container. On inspection, the left rear mudguard of the trailer was visibly bent, and the tyres showed scrape marks, consistent with the collision. A nearby parked car also sustained minor damage when the motorcycle, after falling, slid into it. The truck driver, Mr. Witthawat, 32, told police he had been travelling in the middle lane when the motorcyclist attempted to overtake on the left-hand side. He claimed not to have noticed any impact at first, only becoming aware of the collision upon hearing a loud noise and stopping to investigate. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the motorcyclist may have swerved to avoid a parked car, which caused him to lose control and come into contact with the lorry, before falling and being run over by the trailer wheels. Officers have taken Mr. Witthawat’s statement and recorded the scene for further analysis. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to confirm the sequence of events. The body of Mr. Charan has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for post-mortem examination. Police continue to investigate to determine whether any charges will be filed. -- 2025-04-10 -

British Woman Arrested at Phuket Airport for 207-Day Visa Overstay
Yes, see my post above about airside arrests. Something quite insidious is going on here. Not entirely sure why yet but we will find out one day. It's not new, been happening for at least a few years now. -

British Woman Arrested at Phuket Airport for 207-Day Visa Overstay
Oh, I'm not worried, my visas are sorted until the 2040s with my Thailand Elite membership but I really don't like what I see going on, especially in Phuket. I heard elsewhere that it's now routine IN PHUKET for immigration to allow people to pass through into the departure area known as 'airside' where a whole different set of laws apply which is when they 'move in' for the arrest. -

Those of you who live on 40k a month
We are talking about living on the Aussie ...or... and I was going to say "Pommy" pension in Pattaya ....but apparently the word "pommy" is now offensive so must say UK I guess to be PC .. The thing is ,I was paying 100 baht a beer in those sports lounges in Soi Bukhao ,how could one afford that everyday if on a aged pension of roughly 40-45k You would have to quickly get to KNOW where to drink or eat cheap and I mean QUICK otherwise you will lose your pension No going to breakfast everyday ...well ok, it appears most of you pensioner expats DON'T anyway ? No going to the Sports lounges to pay 125 baht a beer ! The difference is ,you can live on it in Australia or the UK ,can you do it in Pattaya? Actually seeing a GP in Australia is not free unless you can find what you call a "bulk billing" doctor which means charges the Government not you , hard to find bulk doctor nowadays so it's roughly $60 (1200 baht) to see a doctor unlike the UK where apparently it's free for pensioners to see a GP??? Medicines also not free in Australia I think $5 (100 baht ) for pensioners , correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not yet on the aged pension As for living in your aged pension in Pattaya, is it cheaper to cook your OWN food or just buy cooked Thai food?
