In recent years I get a very sore throat and headache when I drink coffee. I used to enjoy a cup off coffee first thing every morning. I've tried all different brands but the results are the same. I've never drank more than 3-4 cups of coffee over a 24 hour period. Tea gives me much the same problem. I've even tried decaf and that's no better. Has anyone had this problem and if so what brand coffee made coffee drinking bearable.

When you only drank 'a cup' of coffee in the morning, was there the same issue.

Later statement is now '3 to 4 cups', which would be a considerable difference.   Also, what do you consider a cup of coffee; 50ml, 150ml 300ml 400ml or more

8 oz / 237ml (cup)

12 oz / 355ml

Myself, my morning cup is ~400ml

Could be acid build up from the coffee ?

Try tea, it has less caffeine content.

Tea and cola drinks give me the same re action. When I stated 3-4 cups that wasn't a normal day, it was rhe most in a day that I considered excessive.

A darker roast coffee might not be acidic or as caffeinated.  Along with amount you're drinking.  See earlier post about what your 'cup' size is.

@Mason45

As suggested, dehydration, especially if sipping a few beers also in you daily routine.

Got me beat, as actually weighed my morning cup, 425ml.   Rarely drink coffee after 1200 hrs.

28 oz = 828ml

Its going to be actually about 24 oz, plus Big Boy or Carnation or whatever.

I use a Hydroflask mug, so it stays hot/warm for a few hours while I do the news.

I'm low tech and can't afford that fancy mug.   Drink my first cup, while 2nd cup is still filtering.  Use French press, then passes through paper filter.   First cup fills up fast, 2nd a bit slower, and needs a reheat in the microwave.

Drink them down while catching up on the world, and trolling AN, while being entertained.  Get my morning comic relief, almost all in one place, before moving over to real news and educational vid programming :cheesy:

It does not really matter how large your cup is. It does not mean that there is more coffee (quantity of beans used) inside. You can see that at Starbucks serving large cups with weak coffee.

A cup size is relevant only in regard of the water quantity used in the coffee. 1 Americano by international standard is always 1 double Espresso (usually around 18 gr. of beans)  filled up with water.
