Nvidia doesn't make any chips at all. This is done by the chip fab companies. The bulk of their chips come from Taiwan semi. NVDA is what is known as a fabless chip company, they do not directly manufacture them.

Saw an interview with Tim Cook (the guy Trump calls Tim Apple) where he said that labor cost in not the main attraction of China. He said that the Chinese labor force has greater skills in manufacturing and surrounding tooling than any other nation.

 

So US couldn't compete in technical manufacturing.

The products we do require really advanced tooling, and the precision that you have to have, the tooling and working with the materials that we do are state of the art. And the tooling skill is very deep here. In the U.S., you could have a meeting of tooling engineers and I’m not sure we could fill the room. In China, you could fill multiple football fields.

Thank you for your reasoned and fact-filled rebuttal. You make an excellent point. Everybody knows that to be the world's number 1 manufacturing power, the last thing that you need is engineers. Basically all you have to do is plant seeds and the designs for the products and the machines that make them just sprout.

Wow. Nice patriotism and can do attitude.

 

Guess you arent the type to pitch in. Would you answer the call to use your skills to train others? Would you come out of retirement to fill a job in 7-11 so the High School kid could go off to learn to build or machine? Would you answer the call of your country to fight an ECONOMIC war? Even if its just to drive a cart of screws from one building or another? Or assemble those annoying boxes? Yeah dude, that could free up some folks to do the harder stuff. We dont have a huge underclass of muscular young men in our inner cities that could be trained to work like we did in WW2, when housewives made  VT fuzes? Keep wriggling. In the post of yours I addressed you cast shade on the statement that there was a shortage of engineers. Now you're making all kinds of claims about volunteerism, or the potential of minority youth, environmental hypocrisy, and workers' rights. Everything except the fact that China has a huge advantage over the United States in actual existing engineering talent. Now maybe you've got a magic wand and you can, with a wave, turn all those minority youth into engineers. But other than that, you've got nothing but deflections to offer.

Surprisingly China does not figure in the top pharmaceutical companies at all. Of the top 5 pharmaceutical companies 4 are from the USA. Of the top 10 no less than 6 are from the USA.

 

You mention robotics, but only 3 out of 10 of the top ten robotics companies are from China, and they are on the last 3 ranks.
