Drug-Crazed Man Fatally Slashes Woman’s Throat During Morning Walk

A 52-year-old woman was brutally murdered while walking her dog in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Narathiwat province on the morning of 13 April, in a shocking and unprovoked knife attack by a drug-addled neighbour. Despite her husband’s desperate attempt to intervene with a firearm, he was unable to save her life. At around 07:30, Pol. Lt. Col. Thitiwut Petchrak of Su-ngai Kolok Police Station received reports of a fatal stabbing in front of a house in the Su-ngai Kolok subdistrict. Emergency responders and police arrived to find the victim’s body already moved inside the family home by distraught relatives. She was identified as Mrs. Usanee, 52, who suffered a deep slash wound to the neck. A cloth had been draped over her body. Outside the house, officers discovered a pool of blood, a 9mm bullet casing, and a bloodied kitchen knife. The suspect, 34-year-old Mr. Ismaae, a neighbour living just 50 metres away, had already been rushed to Su-ngai Kolok Hospital with gunshot wounds. He had been shot once in the abdomen, with the bullet also grazing his left arm. He underwent emergency surgery and remains under strict police guard. Mr. Sombun, the victim’s husband, recounted the horrifying moment. As his wife, as was her daily routine, took their dog for a morning walk, the suspect suddenly emerged from behind and slashed her throat without warning. Mr. Sombun said he heard her cries for help and rushed outside. In desperation, he retrieved his licensed 9mm handgun and fired one shot at the attacker in a bid to save his wife, but she had already succumbed to her injuries. Following the attack, police visited Mr. Ismaae’s home and spoke with his father, who revealed that his son suffered from psychiatric illness, believed to have been triggered by years of drug abuse. He was typically confined indoors for safety, though somehow managed to slip out that morning. Mr. Ismaae had reportedly been hospitalised multiple times and had been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs Act on four previous occasions. DHS told her to leave the country. She's a citizen — and an immigration attorney. "I think it's really scary this is going on," said Nicole Micheroni. "I think it says they're not being careful." When Massachusetts resident Nicole Micheroni received an email on Friday from the federal government telling her to leave the country, she was baffled. "At first I thought it was for a client, but I looked really closely and the only name on the email was mine," said Micheroni. "So it said my parole status had been terminated and I should leave the country within seven days." But the 40-year-old is a U.S. citizen, born in Newton and raised in Sharon. "Probably, hopefully, sent to me in error," she said. "But it's a little concerning these are going out to U.S. citizens." Micheroni is also an immigration attorney, working with many clients facing possible deportation issues, so her name and email are on a lot of paperwork. "The language in the email is very threatening," she said. "And it looks kind of like a sketchy spam email. It doesn't look like an official government notice, but it is." A federal judge is weighing whether to stop a move by the Trump administration to terminate parole for more than half a million immigrants in the country, including the families of servicemembers and Ukrainians fleeing the war in Russia. In a statement, a senior Department of Homeland Security official told NBC10 Boston that Customs and Border Protection is issuing notices terminating parole for individuals who do not have lawful status to remain, and "CBP used the known email addresses of the alien to send notifications. If a non-personal email-such as an American citizen contact-was provided by the alien, notices may have been sent to unintended recipients. CBP is monitoring communications and will address any issues on a case-by-case basis." "I think it's really scary this is going on," said Micheroni. "I think it says they're not being careful." Micheroni posted about the email on social media and has received thousands of responses from around the world. "I think it's a scare tactic," she said. "I think they want people afraid of immigration." Micheroni says she won't be reaching out to Homeland Security, and figures this is an administrative error.
