Popular Post Don Giovanni Posted April 18 Popular Post Posted April 18 Many times over the years I have walked into shopping malls, outlets, stores etc in Thailand and there has been water on the floor (a spill) with no warning signs in place. According to ChatGPT, these establishments can be sued for negligence if one slips, falls and becomes injured through no fault of their own.. Is this correct? The Don. 2 9
Popular Post mikebike Posted April 18 Popular Post Posted April 18 🤣🤣 in Thailand YOU are responsible for learning how to walk. Don't know where u R from, but I learned to walk on slippery, wet floors by the time I was 5. Also icy, snowy streets. Amazing, eh? 2 2 4 1

Popular Post CharlieH Posted April 18 Popular Post Posted April 18 Technically yes! But unlike the West where places are geared up for such incidents, I doubt it would be neither easy nor straightforward trying to pursue such a claim in Thailand. 1 3 1

My guess is that not many negligence lawsuits succeed in Thailand over wet floors and the like. Have you ever seen the city sidewalks? The rule seems to be that you should watch where you're walking. If you trip over a hole or a piece or rebar sticking out of the ground, you should have been paying attention. 1 4

But if the laws are on the books, and it happens inside a big name store - might be worth the hassle and could set a new precedent in Thailand - no more negligence or a farang might take you to the cleaners! The logic is kindergarden simple. If you could safely walk on a wet floor you would not need to be ranting on a public forum about lawsuits. Are u disabled? 1
