I like Mexico....Mexico in the past was very cheap....Not so much now...

In 1991 me and girlfriend rented a beach cabana in Tulum Mexico right on the beach for 2 weeks....We paid a whopping 3 dollars a night..

Now beach cabanas rent for many hundreds of dollars a night..

And, what are your thoughts about the dramatic demographic shift in California which has occurred so rapidly in such a very short period of time?

Does such a rapid cultural shift promote greater stability or instability?

And, is California, now....

Part of the Nation?

Culturally speaking, of course.

So you're saying that the problems that California faces are based on color/ethnicity?  I agree that California is no longer livable, but that's because of over crowding and cost of living, not the fact that my neighbors were Chinese rather than white Southern Baptists!

Talking only about cultural cohesiveness.

Talking only about cultural and national identity.

White Americans (especially Boomers) will do anything to avoid being called racist. It's not livable because the people there suck. Just admit it. All the CA refugees I know moved to whiter states with less diversity but refuse to admit it.

Even if it was only about crowding that's their own fault for promoting immigration for decades.

I lived in CA for over 50 years.  It was good in the 1990's.   Things really took a turn in the 2000;s.    But CA is also a very big place.  I still have hope for Orange County. Most of the bad news comes out from Los Angeles and San Francisco (Bay Area in general and this includes Oakland). Yes the cost of living is unbearable but I have been looking up rentals in Orange County and probaly will move back in early 2026.  Irvine CA in the OC has been rated as one of best cities in the nation. Of course it is not cheap to live in a safe city but I am willng to pay at least $2,000 a month for a small studio or 1 Bed.  CA will always be home and I plan on making Orange County the next stop in this life.   Most of Orange County is the last bastion of conservative thinking in  CA.

It wasn't a thought, it was s statement of fact.

I have not visited California since.....

1960.

La Jolla was once an amazing place, about 100 years ago.

Now, though, I bet it cannot compare in any good way with what it once was.

I spent many years in Texas. The Hispanic culture was one of the best parts of living there. Those families were kind, hard working and totally charming. The white Baptist culture was the worst.

But, have you been baptized?

Yes, and so has everyone from Latin America, both in Texas and California.

Full immersion in a river?

Or, just two drops of water on the forehead, as an infant?

It DOES make a difference.

No it does not. There is no evidence for any magic.

So now you want to add religious slander to your racial slander? It says a lot about you.

This is nothing but total demagoguery and a very warped and false sense of blame. No question that California has gone downhill dramatically, but it has nothing to do with its ethnicity and everything to do with overly liberal politics, ridiculously high taxes, over population, a cost of living that is unsustainable, and a state that has no idea of what it takes to make itself attractive to industry.

No.

It has to do with CULTURE.

I guess you might not understand the importance of culture.

Or, the meaning of culture.

What is culture, anyway?

Do you know?

Do you care?

Culture:  Maybe it is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.

Culture:  Just how much culture does it take to design and build a Boeing 747?  Have YOU ever considered ....THAT?

Culture is important.

And, I am NOT talking about Culture Club, either....

I'm a man....really?

Without conviction?

Great song, horrible hate filled thread. Your belief in magic (Miracles) does not make it real. I do not know how you get on in Thailand being such a bigot.

Dear Folks,

Have many people paid much attention to the rapid demographic shift in California during the past five decades?

Incredible?

image.png.81ef58d7cf9b3df1ed2849b3db2ea125.png

Does anybody even remember how great California once was....in the mid-60s???

It was a totally different state, compared to what it has now become.

Do you like it better now?

Or, did you like it better then?

What a waste of a perfectly wonderful state, did you say?

This song was sung WAY BEFORE California became unrecognizable to some of us here.

So sad.

Let's have a few Sad Emojis......why not.....

This rapid transformation is...what....

ASTOUNDING?

Enjoy....

Your memories of a great state....

Regards,

Gamma

Note: So very good to be in East Asia, or SE Asia, and to have avoided witnessing the demise of.....CALIFORNIA.....

Mexico....

Here we come!!!

Flowers for the Dead.....Flores para los muertos.

Under the Volcano....etc, etc, etc....

I guess they will stop blaming Black Californians for the mess that state got itself into.  Less than 6%...no power to impact any city, except the continued destruction of Oakland.
