A crash has claimed the life of a man after he lost control of his pickup truck and it veered off a winding mountain road and plunged into a deep ravine. The incident occurred on April 22nd in the Dong Mada area, near Ban Huai San in Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province.

Emergency responders from the Chiang Rai High-Altitude Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene, located on the main road linking Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, a route known for its steep, twisting terrain.

Upon arrival, rescuers found the pickup at the bottom of a ravine. A male driver was discovered dead at the scene. His body was recovered and transported by emergency teams, who also coordinated the removal of the vehicle from the hazardous location.

Initial assessments suggest that the crash may have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel. Authorities noted the road’s sharp curves and steep incline, which pose a significant risk to drivers who are not fully alert.

Investigations are ongoing as officials work to gather evidence and contact the victim’s family to proceed with necessary arrangements.
