Police in Patong have launched an investigation following the discovery of a deceased Swedish national in his hotel room in the Kathu District of Phuket Province on 23 April.

The man, identified as Mr Pierre, aged 52, had reportedly been staying alone at the hotel since 10 April. Authorities have confirmed that there were no visible signs of struggle, forced entry, or foul play at the scene. Personal belongings, including medication, were found intact, and nothing in the room appeared to have been disturbed.

Emergency services were called to the scene and later transported the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

According to a hotel maid who discovered the body, Mr Pierre had been seen drinking alcohol in his room on a daily basis. She explained to police that she attempted to clean the room that morning, but received no response when she knocked. After trying again around midday and still getting no answer, she looked through the window and saw Mr Pierre lying motionless. Concerned, she entered the room and discovered him unresponsive, at which point she immediately notified the authorities.

The Swedish Embassy has been informed of the incident and is working to contact Mr Pierre’s next of kin.

A spokesperson for the Patong Police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released once the results of the post-mortem are available.

I am 72 , every time I read articles like this I cringe.  52-68 were some of the best years of my life.

Ditto

Retired past 10 years and 70 in August.

My 50's were a brilliant time back being a single man working offshore.

R.I.P.... may be heartbroken 💔  or got swindled of cash by some lover... or got scammed... he won't have traveled so far to come and just dle drinking in closed room...

There's no foul-play reported?

I lived there for 20 years, and in the first 15 years did my fair share of screwing around. In the last 5 years I just couldn't be bothered any more. My thoughts on the bar/bar girl scene were that it's just 'too easy' to be of any 'value'. I was never scammed.

It was very easy to slide into just sitting around drinking every day, nothing much else to do. Also, if this guy was 52, a heart attack or stroke wouldn't be that unlikely.

RIP

Will the hotel operator perform any exorcism in that room foreigner died?

Hotel maids might to start to say they saw some ghost, after this incident.

I doubt they even change the mattress.. They will just put another tourist in it next week and then observe if that person becomes crazy lol.

If they knew that was what he was doing/not doing why did they not call for help?

In a two week period the cleaning staff and booze providers or foyer staff must have been aware!
