Yeah, I know one nutritionist I follow was saying eat the majority of calories earlier in the day. So you have the entire day to burn them off. Makes sense. Except when I'm not eating in the morning, I guess the body is living off of stored calories anyway. 

 

Also, in the evening, there are more food options available. There's people grilling meats everywhere after 5 PM. More options available. So more convenient to not eat cheat meals.

In a way, I'm lucky I get fat easily. Because my body is warning me something is off. 

 

 

i guess that's one way to interpret it, i get yearly blood tests to check I'm still on track. If i eat too much and the wrong foods, too much drink, I'd get fat 100% guaranteed, so don't use that as an excuse

I researched one meal a day and decided it's not enough and settled on 2 now. 

Maybe not enough nutrition ie protein for example can be absorbed in one meal.

it's one of many issues that nutritionists disagree on, so I won't push you. but I decided 2 might be better. 

there's a lot of conflicting information in nutrition.

5 meals vs 3 vs 2 vs 1. Doubt it matters over a year. Just total volume.

Eat when I'm hungry, usually before noon, 4-5 pm, 8 pm.  Snack in between if wanting.  Just don't eat after 8 pm, till that noon ish meal, which is fat & protein.  Followed by a walk.

 

Also a walk after the 4-5 pm munch ... like now, dog is staring at me.   Time for her to take care of business before settling in for crappy torrents 🙄

You're confused, the reason people eat at night is they haven't eaten enough during the day, probably have poor eating habits, skipping meals, binging, body doesn't know what's going on. Will you ever learn?

So, doctor Scuba, says the obesity has nothing to do with genes, hormones to digestion capacity. Will you ever learn? That is the question????????

Skipping breakfast is never a good idea and is one reason so many end up overweight. Going from the evening before to the next lunch has people not getting enough for for the day's energy needs, and then they over compensate by eating too much for that dinner, and if it's before bed, a lot gets stored, which leads to weight gain over time.

 

There are many people who are slim to their old ages, but that doesn't mean they are healthy. I know of many that are skinny and have diabetes. In a poor country, it isn't as much as knowing how to eat but having enough money for food, and looking at the normal Thai diet, which is mainly rice, this catches up to many when they hit their 40's, and if you look around during the day, there are a lot more overweight locals now than before, and the amount is increasing every year. 

 

They aren't nutrition experts by any means and the amount of junk food they eat and feed their children shows they are adopting bad eating habits from the west and the obesity level is steadily catching up to the west. You might see a few 40+ women here that are slim, as many still are hard working farmers who eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and work all day long, but for every one you see slim, there are 3 that are overweight.

they've eaten rice for generations so that's not the cause of being overweight, it's junk food and drink

Rice every meal isn't healthy and can lead to diabetes in those prone. Yes, it's western foods that has caused the rise in obesity, along with using seed oils, fried foods and that rice. Sugar drinks, along with juices and alcohol, also contributes.

He's actually right. Genes have some to do with metabolism, but most people that are overweight have been eating too much or a bad diet for too long. My family all had slow metabolisms and whoever ate wrong put on weight. Skipping meals, especially breakfasts, has people eating more later. Eating healthy, frequent small portioned meals will never have a person get fat.

Because bananas seem to make me fat .... I'm cutting them out ... maybe my body has trouble handling all that sugar. 

And because as one cardiologist put it, breakfast cereals "set your arteries on fire."

Not easy to find healthy cereals but they're out there. I have to bring some back here in my luggage when I visit Texas. I've only seen a  few here that are healthy choices, like Shredded Wheat, Corn Flakes, and Grapenuts. There might be more in Bangkok but here in Isaan the choices are limited. Eating fruit is never a problem especially if the rest of your diet is lean minded. One banana has only about 100 calories. People think potatoes make them fat but you can eat a lot and they're still low in calories. It's the things many put on healthy foods that does them in. Whole milk products, yogurt with too much sugar, high calorie salad dressings with high sugar and fat content, fried foods, I would never listen to what doctors say as many don't follow good nutrition practices and are quick to prescribe. Sugar is indeed the main problem but added sugars and not natural ones. Your body will burn sugar and stored blood sugar before stored fat, so keeping your carbs low helps keep you lean as long as you don't starve your body of good carbs too long.

I don't eat breakfast, and never really have, and first meal is ~1200 hr, or just before.  Last very lite snack, bowl of corn flakes & blueberries @ 2000 hrs, and sleep usually after midnight.

 

Plenty of energy, maintain the weight that I prefer with no effort at all.  Eat what ever healthy, whole foods, and some not so healthy food at times, between 1200-2000 hrs.

 

Drink black coffee when I wake, 0600-0800 hrs, and never have hunger cravings.   Eat when I'm hungry.

 

Calorie intake at a guess is Fats 50% Protein 25% Carbs 25%, try limit sugar & starches as much as possible.

 

Less sugar intake will avoid the spikes and following crash, spurring the hunger cravings for more sugar.

My cholesterol is probably considered high by most, but my HDL / Trig ratio is perfect 1:1 (68/69), and Glucose is in the healthy range.

 

Eating healthy is very easy, and most know how.   Doing so is the challenge.  At our (most) age, a bit less activity, so need to pay attention to what's going in.

 

If not a home cook, you really need to read those labels, and understand them.  G-translate is very helpful, and ingredients shouldn't be represented by a list of numbers.   They aren't food.

TOPS carries a variety of blueberries from many different countries.  I freeze them (research says frozen have more benefits than fresh for some reason) then rinse them in tap water for one minute to clean/thaw them out.  same with blackberries, strawberries I try to stick with Korean or local but always avoid Chairman Xi due to possible use of banned sprays to keep bugs away. Just cut up some fruit, make a fruit salad, add nuts - walnuts/almonds/cashew (chopped up), seeds - sunflowerr pumpkin, goi berry seeds, flaxseed (meal if avaliable) turmeric w/black pepper) and some greek yogurt (probiotic) and loaded with protein.  Can use a teaspoon of honey to add a better flavor if needed.  As for frozen berries in supermarkets, I found that often the berries had turned to mush so I only buy fresh and freeze them myself.  Raspberries are good too if you can find them and freeze well.  In any case, you might try the suggestions made by this forum users and if no success, maybe a professional dietician might help.  After all, a good night's sleep is as improtant as one's diet.  Good luck and let us know if any success.

You do everything right. The limited time for intake and fasting time is excellent. I presume your consumption of alc is limited low, isn't it? 👍

it is unfiltered apple cider vinegar.  in you question, is alc alcohol?  if so I don't drink alcohol nor use in my life any drugs including never smoked marijuana either.  I don't even use aspirin as I haven't even had a headache in over 30 years.  My food intake is basically based on the research of Dr William Li's two books on diet and diseases.  I notice that nowadays, more and more other medical organizations are reporting the same benefits he quotes from his research.  The best thing about his books is not only does he tell you the benefits, but provides you with the facts around the research that proves those facts.
