What psychological factors make people overlook Trump's character flaws

It could be due to the fact that we have superior intellect and realize that President Trump, even with his character flaws, will Make America Great Again.

4 yrs. of Biden did the trick.

Plus Kamala

If the Dems chose a straight white male that had no apparent interest in his female staff or sniffing little girls, they could have won.

It's almost as if they wanted to lose!

The factors that make me choose Trump as the best leader, is that there is no one else that is even close to deliver anything better for the American people....

Then God and the Devil help the American people!

Quite.  The phrase "believing their own bullsh*t" comes to mind.

What psychological factors make so many on the progressive left continually start "orange man bad" threads continuously on here. One could call it a type of disorder. There will be PhDs done on this and books written about. A definite phenonomom pushed heavily by MSM and absorbed totally by the sheeple. Let's face it although Trump might not be the most popular POTUS ever his approval rating is well ahead of the Democratic Party which has it's worst approval rating in it's history. Trump high 40's Dems low 20's.

The psychological factors you ask?
Guilt — and the weight of silence.
As Edmund Burke once said:
'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.'

How much time have you actually spent in the US, as it seems you know very little?

I have probably forgotten more about the USA than you will ever know.

OK!  I should have said that you cannot categorise all people into only two groups, Lefties and right wing!

Of course not and no-one does. Extreme left, extreme right and everything in between. As it is the woke progressive left is way left of centre and Trump is more toward the centre of right.

Op - did you actually write this?  If so, very well written and cited.   Or is this plagiarized from an undisclosed third-party.  :glare:

Former?  Kudos.  Latter?  Shame, shame, shame.  💩
Fyi, I may not particular agree with it, but we don't often see well written analyses with citations by AN members, although I will give SpiderMike007 a nod as he also does often write well-written and thought provoking things which I may not agree with, but I do take the time to read.  Anyway, just wondering. Former? Or Latter?

You didn't  read the whole piece, The OP clearly gave the correct reference in the footnotes.. I suggest you take another look, and withdraw the accusation.

Actually you will never know half as much about the US as I did when I was 10. But you're daily assumption total is standing tall. Try staying there for a few years, and interacting, before you think you know as much as the residents. Watching a few videos doesn't qualify.

It is a cult.

American society is particularly prone to cults. For some reason they are often embraced enthusiastically.

As always, look back over history. The people to really watch, yet often the hardest to identify, are those in the shadows behind the cult leader.

More than a few Fred.

i watched the entire series of “Cops” , was a regular viewer of Jerry Springer and WWE wrestling.

That was more than enough.

i don’t think I could take anymore.

And with that biased, fake and misleading very limited knowledge of the US, you assume you know more than someone who spent 62 years there? Or even someone who's spent 5.

I put it down to a poor education system in America, too many god botherers and bible bashers that will believe anything, a culture of conspiracy theories and a population that is not the brightest.

Agree. So the answer to the topic, must then be: grave mental illness. 😉

Sometimes you see things clearer from the outside looking in.

Cant see the forest for the trees.

I wouldn’t expect you to understand that concept.

I think we see that clearly by some of the posts here.

Why wouldn't you expect me to understand that concept? You don't know me besides from this forum, and that's only a fraction of a fraction. Wouldn't it be safer to say that a person that's spent almost 23,000 days in most of the states, working, training, traveling, hunting, fishing, going to school, watching the daily news and shopping, with the majority of the time outside the houses, would know quite a bit more? And seeing you only know the US from the Jerry Springer Show, which is fake, WWE Wrestling, which is also fake, and COPS show, which are just edited videos, wouldn't it also be realistic to say you know almost nothing about what really goes on in the US? So yes, I do understand what can't see the forest from the trees means.

True, there are many who are neutral, seeing both sides have their share of good ideas and problems.
