This is an excerpt from James Lee Burke's latest novel, "Clete". He predicted a leader like Trump way back in 1989.

" In my lifetime, I had seen numerous groups come and go. Their names change, but their membership remains the same - people who feel they have been left out.

They blame immigrants and women and gay people and Jews and Blacks and anyone else they can pick on.

Needless to say, most of them are not bright, and get chewed up and spat out by the rich people who exploit them".

Sound like anyone you know?

Given the negative reactions thus far, I'd say I have touched a nerve.

I am quoting one of America's best crime writers.

You've lost the plot.

Sorry to hear Australia is having a rough go.

Really? You need to keep up, the conservatives in Australia have just been put to the sword.

Save your sympathy for Rupert Murdoch. He's been meddling in elections for years, the Millennials and Generation Z aren't listening.

No worries, he will do plenty of mistakes, you still got time to open your eyes

Actually, the reference to Trump was in passing.

The passage actually refers to MAGA's, but no one seems to have picked that up.

Any plot you have would be as barren as your mind.

The mine tailings around Johannesburg, for example.

Written in the mid 30's when fascism seemed an answer to many. Father Coughlin was on the radio, Charles Lindbergh would soon be cranking up his America First Committee. My paperback copy  from 1976, make up work for Mrs. Driscoll.

- '"Buzz" Windrip, a demagogue who is elected President of the United States, after fomenting fear and promising drastic economic and social reforms while promoting a return to patriotism and "traditional" values." - Sinclair knew which direction the danger would come from.

Sounds like BS identity politics. Thankfully, this absurd and nefarious ideology seems to be a thing of the past.

CNN senior political commentator Van Jones speaks with a group of African Americans in South Carolina who explain why they voted for and continue to back President Donald Trump.

I get the distinct feeling the Nevertrumpers have a sense of having been left out.

One has to pity them really, riling like madmen, frothing at the mouth at Trump, whilst he trolls them day in day out from Mount Olymp way up high.

You've never had a plot, Susan. Or ever anything of importance to say for that matter.

I am never sure whether his/her/its posts are interjections or ejaculations.
