"Roadside food stalls, convenience stores, restaurants and supermarkets are not included in the new announcement. They still cannot sell alcohol," he wrote on his Facebook page.

But there is still an election ban for the "darkside" in Pattaya apparently, 6pm tomorrow

a person can get a bus from Pattaya to the airport for 124 baht  and have a mini holiday at the airport..just don't get rowdy  they will probably send you straight out of the country on the next flight:burp:

  Why publicise it though ?

If it  becomes a location for western drunks to get beer from  after hours , then they will clamp down on it and close it down .

   Keep quiet about it

As mentioned in the thread about this in the news section, it's not clear yet if bars will be open as there's supposed to be a list published of approved locations which isn't around yet.

'Airports: International terminals can serve alcohol to passengers with outbound flights. This change aims to enhance the hospitality offered to international travellers',

So don't waste your 124 baht @johng

What a complete sht show from the empty heads in power. So some provinces where there are elections (many provinces) the the 6 pm Sat - 6 pm Sun will still apply but the midnight Sat to midnight Sunday now not applying for the Buddha holiday alcohol sales ban except in specific places? Can't make this sht up. What complete bunch of very rich, very corrupt, empty headed morons.

Actually, it's 6 pm Saturday till midnight Sunday, upon which the regular nighttime prohibition starts. TIT

Just got back from a 7/11 in Pratumnak, they decided last minute to allow sales after 6pm, what a cock up this has all been

They still had the sign-up saying 6pm no beer

I think you've missed the point. The ban for elections is 6 pm Sat - 6 pm Sun and the ban for the Buddhist observance is midnight Saturday - midnight Sunday. If you want to "actually" me on this feel free. All up except for the "exceptions" it's 30 hours.

I had to quote myself for this because someone gave me the stupid thumbs down. These are the "alcohol sales" ban hours except for the "exceptions". Why would you (you know who you are) give a thumbs down for giving correct information. Obviously TIT and anything can happen but officially these are the hours.

p.s. just went to my local 711. No alcohol sales until 11 am Monday. M&P shop a minute away (walking) no problems

I heard that from a Pratumnak bar manager who called the police on Friday night!

I live on Soi 6 Pratamnak Hill, and my local bar manager showed me a letter from the police saying they cannot sell alcohol on the 11th. Well, I can't read Thai, but she told me that's what it said

Oh, yes! 7 Elevens will be open. Just because you can´t buy beer does not mean they are closed. Ever tried an AA meeting. Sounds like high time.
