I don't think he'll ever fly in this plane.  It will take 3 years probably to convert it to AF1 standards with all the inflight fueling, electronics gear and all that is required, plus pilot and crew training.  It would probably be done about the end of his term.  To fly privately it's probably $200,000/flight hour.  He won't pay that.  His old 757 I think sat in New York in disrepair for about 3 years, because he didn't want to pay to fix it.  From what I remember it needed a new engine and some high$ maintenance.   This gift is like a white elephant.  He has a lot of money, but probably not 747 prince/king kind of money.  Also at 80 years old, he probably doesn't have a lot of flying time left.  Trump flying in a private 747 would be NFL player type stupidity.  How fast can you go broke?

 

Now the idea of painting it in USA colors and parking it at a presidential library is interesting.   That would probably create some interest in visiting.  Regan has an old plane at his museum in Loma Linda and an old Beast limo.

I thought at least they would check something like that before posting it. I've tried to find ANYTHING supporting that claim, and apart from above video, all search engines find absolutely nothing on the topic. There was something about Arkansas senator using military helicopter under Clinton's presidency, but other than that - nothing. I don't know where this stuff comes from. Either this fake news spreading crowd is completely illiterate or they truly believe wildest conspiracy theories thrown at them without a single brain cell in operation of not only verifying data, but at least considering whether that is at all plausible or possible, before forwarding it.

Let's face it: The great BOEING company has gone to crap. It needs to be rebooted or let one of its competitors take over.

I have a feeling that the Qatari jet will be outfitted with a lot of the things that a President needs already.  Let's face it, the people at the top in Qatar need the same protection as TRUMP.

 

My worry is that they are using parts that are older than a lot of people here on teh site

Apparently, the real AF1 has all sorts of special electronics and other modifications.  It's more than just a regular plane.  That's why it takes forever to build one.

 

They don't take any chances when it comes to transporting the President.  From my window at work, I could see the Marine helicopters take off from the White House.  Two of them, every time.  One with the President, the other a decoy.  Anyone with bad intentions only had a 50% chance of hitting the right helicopter.

but imho as I have stated many times, too many of the elected officials are basically corrupt in nature - they see an easy way to obtain riches even though they only get a meager salary i.e. for over 4 years the Congress has not even been able to floor a bill outlawing insider trading for the congressfolks.  But we saw some of Ms. Green's doing some insider trading during the Trump tariff back and forth.  And, now we learn that the new attorney general sold over a million dollars and then later bought 1 to 5 million dollars on the stock market during one of the latest back and forth Trump tariff schemes.  If still unsure, figure how Trump's family in the first 3 months of this year had their finances increase by 3 billion dollars - now after the 3 visits in the middle east I wonder how much they gained.  And everyone who has followed politics the last few years should remember the clamor about Hunter Biden and gains by the Biden family that never totally proven true.  That is why IMHO they are all corrupt and beholding to the rich in hopes that they can ten become richer. Meanwhile, the congress is busy looking for changes to the pensions and benefits of the govt workers to cut their benefits, and looking to cut benefits from medicaid and other benefit programs for the poor, young and sick.  Also IMHO if Trump had lost the election things may also have tanked as they might sooner!
