Merely reporting the weather in my area.....

Recommended Posts

Dear Folks,

Here where I am there is slight haze.

Stars are now visible through the haze.

The light pollution is immense, due to proximity of the city.

It's warm, thankfully not hot, at all.

No rain, though, there will be rain this week.

The grass is growing, but not too fast that we need to cut it more than once per week.

The pollution level is quite low.

Also, in the future, I will update this Topic.

And, in the future, since I have recently been invited to China, by the gov there, I will post more updates.

If you are in China, or in Thailand, how do you find the weather.

Thank you.

Regards,

Gamma

Please Note:  Let's please, keep this Topic completely NON-controversial.  Thank you....!!!!

Well done, always taking unsolicited, needless chatter to even higher levels. I hate to imagine what it would be like if somebody actually asked for your opinion on something.

Thankfully that is unlikely to happen.

Here in Prasat sth Surin we received this afternoon in 45 minutes more rain than we have had since last October.

So the monsoon has at last begun here. For the last month before this we have received an occasional few drops, a light & brief shower 2 or 3 times, but not enough to give more than a few patches of brown earth a slight greenish look. A kind of aspirational lawn. Here are 3 photos from my library:  P1130936.jpeg.dd3ac67d7d7aecfc33df1bfa6ac9ad03.jpegP1130937.jpeg.79e7f09656c895cca6a130fbc2eda7c8.jpegP1130941.jpeg.f2772aa585e6efd2e5d2a16cb78d8bc7.jpeg

This may well be the most informative and interesting post you've made to date.

Yes.

And, the true beauty of it is that.....

a. Fairly innocuous

b. Non-controversial

c. Not inane, as usual

d. So many other beautiful reasons...

So, YES.

I will never post anything, other than the weather....and then....

I guess....

It might be difficult to complain about my Topics....

In the future.....

IF the weather is good, of course.

Impossible to please ALL the people.

However, if one can just please two people, in a Ménage à trois, then this might be sufficient....

Two points about the weather in Thailand. First off, don’t expect the locals to waste a single breath on discussing it in any detail. Unless it’s pissing down or there’s a flood swallowing motorbikes whole, the weather simply doesn’t register as a conversation topic. Temperature? No one cares unless it drops below 18° or cooks you alive at 40°. Anything in between is just background noise. And I agree with their approach, take note and learn from them. Second, for those desperate to obsess over every breeze and UV rating, there’s this magical invention called the AccuWeather app. It’ll gleefully vomit up every microscopic weather detail you could possibly want, hour by hour, day by day, until your eyes bleed. So no, we don’t need to discuss the humidity index over a bowl of noodles.

Speaking of the weather, whether you might choose to do so, or not....I will say....

I am extremely impressed by the quality and intelligence of young Chinese students.

Young Chinese students, up to the PhD level, are often very impressive.

SMART, for sure.

And, also, I have experienced MANY typhoons on the East Coast of Taiwan.

In fact, I was almost killed by a Super-Duper typhoon, just before I left Taiwan to come to Thailand.

Fortunately, I did not die.

But, I  almost died, due to the waves.....which were HUMONGOUS....

I am, of course, speaking NOT about the Typhoon, Morakot, but a BIGGER typhoon that hit use on the East Coast of Taiwan.

And, the dogs in the area were outside.

They just hunkered down in the weeds, and survived.

Taiwan dogs have a very high IQ, might I add....

Unlike some I think I know, on TV....of course.

I was there.

Such a beautiful typhoon.

But, I have seen many better ones.....

Note: Living on the coast, in Taiwan, was amazing, yet also harrowing, due to the weather conditions, and the constant earthquakes, which were not bad, most days.

I use them every day, multiple times, but here in the rain shadow that is south Surin, their predictions of rain or thunder storms are almost NEVER even remotely accurate ... often laughably so. eg They tell me we're having a downpour right now or for the next 1 hour but I look out the windows of the house in 4 directions and the sun is shining. Or vice versa.

windy is 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x better than anything else.   yes, I'm sponsored and get 100 billion baht if you go there and agree with me.  It is the best.  it has the only radar that seems accurate.

i digress, slightly.

hello all, I am reporting there is weather in my area.

Lovely this year, and rainy season started weeks before Songkran, and can't remember the last time that happened.  Nice steady rain, yesterday & last night,  We're out the door, as soon as this wave passes, for some longer exploring.  Did a few short O&A already.

Haven't needed the air purifiers for about 6 weeks.

Here's a rather scratchy image from the NOAA-15 weather satellite that I received yesterday.  I'm at the yellow cross (centre) where there are no clouds overhead, but Bangkok seems to be cloudy.....

Like this though October.  Sometimes rain; sometimes not rain.

Yeah, I put the air purifiers away yesterday.  I've got some seedlings planted but now it looks like I'll bag planting starts and just plant seeds directly into the garden this year. 🪴 Looks like the Weather Oracles are predicting a wetter than average year so hopefully the reservoirs will get topped off this year, and of course - naam tuam, it will flood..."We never saw these floods coming, they were a total surprise.  What can we do???"  (Kick the can down the road to next year?  😁)  The Ping River in Chiang Mai is already pretty high, and I don't think the Rain Season has even officially begun.  So it looks like we'll have a good productive year in the garden this year.

Many Brits are obsessed with the weather, down to BBC or SKY News weather presenters tell us the forecast for the next two or three days, and then say they will update us in half an hour.

Dude, you've just kicked the Chinese-Haters into "DRIVE."  They'll be out in full-force now spewing, "I Hate China" word salads and "All Chinese Student's Poop On The Streets" rhetoric.  Bring up weather and you get China, Russia, and Trump falling like cats and dogs.

Early rain got us out of the house, earlier, as no need to water the garden.  Greenhouse has self watering system, along with some areas around house.   But outside the greenhouse, and some plantings still needed watering while dry season in full swing.

We're far enough away from hills, and no streams nearby, so safe from flooding.   South of us, Bang Saphans always seem to get flooding out, at least once a year.
