In a devastating accident early on May 19, a suspected drunk driving incident led to the deaths of Luangchai, a 57-year-old local politician named Adisak, and his 35-year-old wife, Daojai, in Trang province.

The collision occurred on the road between Baan Khuan and Khuan Pring intersection in the Baan Khuan subdistrict of Mueang district. Police and emergency services responding to the scene found intense wreckage: Adisak's body displayed severe facial injuries, while Daojai was discovered approximately 60 metres away, with significant injuries to her face and body. Their motorcycle, a Honda Wave i 110, lay entangled with a severely damaged Honda City car. The driver of the car, showing signs of intoxication, remained at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the couple, with Adisak, a seasoned four-term local council member from Tha Phaya subdistrict, was traveling to Daojai's family home in Khuan Thani subdistrict. The incident transpired on an unlit, under-construction road. The car struck the motorcycle from behind, ejecting Adisak onto the opposing lane. Daojai was flung from the motorcycle and, tragically, is believed to have been run over by another vehicle that fled afterward, increasing the severity of her injuries.

The car driver was taken to Trang Hospital for a blood alcohol test to substantiate legal actions following signs of alcohol use. The authorities continue to investigate, collecting more evidence to determine the exact circumstances.

Meanwhile, the bodies of Adisak and Daojai were moved to Trang Hospital for autopsy. The family, deeply anguished by the loss, has been informed and has reclaimed the bodies for religious rites and ceremonies. The incident has cast a pall over the community, mourning the untimely demise of the couple.
