From May 30, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) mandates that facilities for people with disabilities and others requiring assistance be provided at airports and on airplanes, ensuring equitable access to air travel. This directive is designed to enhance the inclusivity of Thailand's aviation services, bringing them in line with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

ACM Manat Chavanaprayoon, CAAT's director-general, outlined that this initiative extends to passengers with impaired hearing, mobility, communication challenges, temporary injuries, and elderly passengers. The focus is to grant these individuals equal opportunities to utilise air transport without facing unnecessary barriers.

To facilitate this improved service, passengers requiring special assistance are encouraged to notify airlines or airport authorities in advance. Preparations may include the provision of wheelchairs and devices to assist with boarding and disembarking planes.

This announcement signifies a crucial step in raising the standard of air travel services within Thailand, ensuring every passenger can enjoy a seamless journey. By implementing these facilities, Thailand aims to create a more inclusive travel environment and inspire confidence among travellers with special needs.
