I’ve read all the horror stories, but this feels a bit special and different in some way. The intimacy is amazing too, which I didn’t expect with the language and age gap, but it just works.

 

Now here’s where I’m looking for a bit of perspective. She recently brought up the idea of me helping her send money to her family. She mentioned around 30,000 baht a month would really help them out. I know that’s about double what she earns, but she didn’t demand it or push hard, just brought it up gently. She’s still working full time at the kiosk and hasn’t asked me for anything else.

 

I’ve never been in this kind of situation before. I always used to read posts on here and think “nah, I’d never be that guy”, but now here I am. And I’m honestly not sure how to feel about it. The truth is, I can afford it, I don’t really care about the money, and I am genuinely enjoying my time with her. She’s made my life feel lighter, happier. I don’t get any sense that I’m really being used, but I also know how brutally honest some of you can be, so I figured I’d throw it out there for some feedback.

 

If both of us are happy and it’s working, is there actually anything wrong with it? As I said, I don’t mind giving her the money. She makes me happy. So I’m thinking, why not.

Sometimes, it is the family who is asking, and not her, and she will have no choice. If you say NO, she will loose face (you don't die for it... but you may look for another bf). 

I remember some ex family , as one day me and the miss got an argument, telling her in Thai ... "Don't loose this one" !

Lower the amount, 5-10K is generous already, if any expense comes up, ask for the bill to pay and show it to other people, and if this comes up regularly, so you know you are being used. You must keep control.

A good point someone asking  is " How much money did you show her before," by the way you are looking, Apple watch, car, nice dinner (500thb/meal), nice condo, and so on ... If she showed the pictures to the family, they would not ask if the food was good 😀... but would be more interested about the size of your wallet !

If you are over 40, maybe.  over 50, probably.  over 60, yes.   under 40, no.  under 30, laughable no.  near 20, a hard no.

I'd consider 40,000, weekly, since her grandfather, uncle and mom's buffalo just got sick.  very sick.

As a general rule, it's better to rent than to own, as the saying goes. 

 

In any event, as others have said, the 30,000 can easily morph into a larger amount over time, in addition to whatever money you end up spending on her for whatever. New phone, new clothes, etc. Still, if you're the kind of guy who spends 30,000 or more every moth on entertainment, and if that amount is no big deal to you, then why not?  You can always trade in for a newer model.
