First commercial fight was in 1924, first flight was KLM. Though seeing as Thailand has been run by the military for most of the past 100 years I guess they're responsible for most of it. 2 2

So did the now infamous Israeli girl have a point? First part, possibly, second part, no. Even if Thailand would still be like Laos and Cambodia if it wasn't for international tourism, that doesn't mean that the Thais owe foreign people anything, or that foreign people can say that their money helping Thailand gives them any claim to it. People who paid to visit Thailand paid to visit Thailand. That's it. Once the transaction is finished, Thailand has their money and the foreigner has their experience. No one owes anyone anything following that. 1 3

"In 2022, the tourism industry contributed around 7.24 percent to Thailand's GDP, which increased from the previous year. In that same period, the total value of Thailand's GDP was almost five hundred billion U.S. dollars. " https://www.statista.com/statistics/1143467/thailand-share-of-tourism-to-gdp/ So exactly as I said.

So what percentage of the GDP were those 2 million foreign arrivals contributing.
NorthernRyland Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM She's never been in the real Thailand apparently and thinks the entire country is based around the economy on Koh Phangan. These people may fly into Bangkok but then go straight into these tourism economies and they never see the outside world. What percent of tourists never see the real Thailand I wonder. Probably something crazy like 80%. That's why she got it so wrong.
