I had a bit of a nightmare last night.

Since I have a bit of past experience working as a moderator on an online community, and a bit of knowledge tweaking PHP code and BB forum functionality, the admins of AN suddenly just handed the site over to me and walked out.

I don’t know why it happened. And you know how dreams are, there are always parts that don’t quite make sense and gaps that never get filled in. But somehow, it was given to me because they’d simply had enough. I don’t know why or how I was chosen. I also don’t know why I accepted it in the dream, it almost felt like I didn’t have a choice. The only thing I really remember thinking was, why would they just walk away from it all unless it was an absolute nightmare of a job?

If they didn’t want to deal with it anymore, there were probably some really upsetting aspects of the site that pushed them to bail. In the dream, I recall thinking things must be seriously messed up for them to just vanish like that. But I don’t remember having any connection to the admins, or any logical reason why they’d hand the site to me. Then again, that’s exactly the kind of logic dreams follow: weird, disjointed, full of holes.

Anyway, suddenly I was the owner and admin of the whole thing. Before they left, they didn’t explain how to run anything or give me any tips on what to watch out for. I think they just said something like, “You know how these things work, you’ll figure it out,” which struck me as completely irresponsible.

Right after that, the usual flood of personal and direct messages started coming in: users with registration issues, login problems, site bugs. Then random digital payments started trickling in too. Notifications were popping up on my laptop in a flurry, with users apparently paying for some kind of extra features or services, I didn’t even know what they were for. But in the dream, I didn’t have time to figure it out, because right on the heels of that came a relentless wave of requests and reports from users about inappropriate posts and forum violations.

All I remember is feeling totally overwhelmed, like I couldn’t keep up with the flow of anything. I was starting to stress out, falling off the edge. I kept thinking, how the hell am I supposed to get any sleep or have a normal life doing this? It got to the point where I just started mentally collapsing under the pressure, and then suddenly, I woke up and that was the end of it. Thank God. I wish I’d woken up sooner.

This is a true story. The interesting thing about my dreams is, I almost never remember them five minutes after waking, if I even remember them at all, I usually only do when they’re traumatizing. Then they stick with me for 24 to 48 hours. And here we are, nearly a full day later, and I still remember every detail vividly.

Please, if there’s an admin god, don’t let this happen to me again. I much prefer being the cheeky poster who pops in now and then for a giggle, creates an occasional topic, rattles the trolls a bit, and then gets on with a happy and productive real life.

Last night I had 3 nightmares but can only remember  2.

First one there was an Egyptian mummy bitting my ass.

Second one I was I was inside a CNC milling machine observing the machineing process but was crushed  between the moving parts

Obviously I woke up before dieing both times ..any analysis ?

I find the third one much more interesting.

Dream number two is a classic Bob dream.

Being wedged between to fat lady boys.

I thought I had a bad nightmare. It involved having to read paragraph after paragraph of inane drivel about someone's dreams.

Turns out it wasn't a nightmare and I was actually awake.

Was that before or after you just made your inane post? Because if your goal was to prove you’re above drivel, you’ve only confirmed the opposite. Next time, try silence and save yourself the embarrassment.

I just had another bad dream, one that involved you posting an idiotic comment, screaming out that you’re a whinger. Then I woke up and it wasn’t a dream. Your whinging post was right there. Two nightmares in one day. Who could’ve imagined?

The first one is the key to it all. The other two are meaningless distractions. Without understanding every detail of that first nightmare, your life will remain forever troubled. Thoughts and prayers.

Perhaps your mind (or root admin) was surreptitiously telling you to stop posting tat? 😜

Yes, they are mostly garbage, possibly to do with the default mode network in the brain going offline on occasion leading to unusual connections being made (much like when on psychedelics) that can’t normally happen, thus you typically get nonsense.

I had a very vivid dream last night. I dreamt I was eating an enormous white marshmallow, and when I woke up this morning my pillow had mysteriously disappeared.  😮

Pillow biting, eh!

Here's my real experience last night, I thought it was a dream, but turned out to be real.

I'd gone to bed and was sleeping soundly, or so I thought.  But around 3 am, I became aware of loud snoring.  Since I live alone, in my half-asleep state I assumed that the snoring was actually me.  So I thought no more about it until I consciously held my breath, and the loud snoring continued!  That woke me up and I lay in bed listening to this rythmic snoring that sounded as if it was coming from next door.

Except there was no next door....  The nearest house to me is about 50 meters away.  Surely someone can't be snoring that loud?  In fact, this snoring was so loud, that it could be just outside my bedroom window.  The only way to find out was to quietly peer out of the window.

And so that's what I did, carefully peering out into the darkness.  Luckily, there was a little light from the nearby streetlight.  Less than 2 metres from my bedroom window was a very contented brown cow, happily snoring in the field next to my house 🙂

Some say that dreams and psychedelics open the subconscious link to other dimensions that our conscious minds can't process.

Can't remember what it was at all, just  know it woke me up...I  try to remember dreams but they most often just disappear into the ether..they say the thing that works best is to write down some notes as soon they happen  but can't even read my own handwriting

My wife shares her dreams with me and I try to tell her mine...I would also tell my friends about dreams I had of them ....as long as the dream was not salacious.
