Tinned Tuna Steak in Brine content

I frequently buy, I don't think I can mention the company name, tinned Tuna steak in Brine.

Now I know, that since the end of Covid, companies all over the world are reducing the original quantity of packages, bottles etc..., without really mentioning the reduction, but keeping the same sales price. So it is not specific to Thailand.

I would like to know what quantity of Tuna meat is written on the tins, as I have problems identifying what is written on the tin of how many grams of Tuna meat is in a tin. The results when I weighted various components are as follows:

Original closed tin incl. lid 212 grams

Tin after draining the brine 138 grams without lid

Empty tin without lid 30 grams

Which means there is effectively 108 grams of Tuna meat in 1 tin

Anyone with an idea how much should actually be in a tin?

Thank you

Just looked at Sealect sandwich tuna in brine.

States Net weight 165g

Meat weight 124g.

You should be able to use Google Lens/translate on your label.

The problem is, there is no "should be." There is as much tuna in a can as they decide to put there.

Your best bet is to look up the weight as written on the can in the Thai language. The word for "gram" is กรัม, and the abbreviation is ก.

Thus, 120 กรัม or 120 ก. indicates weight of 120 grams.

If you can't use Google translate post a couple of photos of the tins 🙂
