Part of the PI versus TH debate....

one thing to remember the citizens for the most part are Catholics so divorce to them is not so easy.  I lived in the PI for 6 years and loved every minute just about of that time.  Greatest scuba diving in the world in my opinion - diving WWII sunken warships, sea life super abundant and waters crystal clear.  I played a lot of golf but I was also an US embassy employee so was provided friendship by many officials of the PI, especially their police and the head of the security for all the top hotels so of course I didn't have any problems but I did hear about others not so lucky as me.  I got along with the locals even when I was not with the local officials so travelled extensively even to the southernmost islands where there were supposedly anti-Americans but still never had any problems.  I also realize that the folks on the golf courses were being nice so that has to be considered too but the diving throughout, I was only met with the nicest people, never any real problems except once when I didn't have any input into the arrangements.  But as a whole, I liked the people and had no problems.

I was a HashHouseHarrier and we sponsored the worldwide Hash one year - the government even helped us out by allowing the foreigners to come in visa free, transport free to hotels and the business folks provided a ton of products (San Miguel) free and locations to hold different functions.  I am not sure the feelings remain the same as it was a different era there but some politcal strife too.

people who ask that question surely know very little about the real world .

Maybe your world is different than mine?

I see the result where people pulling more in the same directions than against each other, where politicians have some decency to work for everyone's best, and not sabotaging each other, leading by revenge using obviously lies, and undermines everything the opponents have done spending your tax money by doing so.

People who buys in to easy selling rhetoric that in the end is like using gasoline to put a fire out.

Anyway, not the topic in this thread. Fantastic, sideslide and off topic. Good job

Seems unlikely.  Thais don't have much love for Westerners, but Filipinos really hate them.

Don't think so,

Been to PI many times, the locals were always polite and friendly.

Way more so than Thais.

Women and their accusations ............

My lawyer in the UK said, move far enough away so their accusations no longer seem reasonable.

This guy only moved 10km, and he kept coming back, so his own fault really.

If he'd moved to a different island/city/country there wouldn't have been a problem

Simple solution for future mistakes like this, know your lady before you investing emotions

Not so "simple", as the woman will pretend to be someone she's not for the first 6 to 12 months, so the woman you meet during the beginning never existed anyway. Sometimes they even lie about their past, so you cannot find out things about her that way either. Mood swings? Everybody has mood swings, everybody gets depressed, everybody is narcissistic to some degree, it has to be considerably pronounced before you can determine whethe it is a condition of unusual severity. I think this particular guy knew the woman for many years, but I doubt he'd have been able to deduce by her mood swings she'd denounce him to police.

In Philippines feminism has taken root much more strongly, the "protect precious women" mindset extends to immigration where it is common that women will be prevented from travelling  outside the Philippines if they are young and good looking and want to meet their boyfriend. I remember taking a flight from Manila and immigration stopped my girl and I sat there with a young handsome American guy. His girlfriend was stopped from leaving, they were obviously a couple, but their whole holiday plans ruined because Filipino immigration wanted to  "protect" the girl from the evil young handsome American. Lovely guy, had a chat with him. Immigration don't even have the legal standing to do this, but nobody cares in Phil. Some commission decided it should be done, so it's done.

if you do not understand why Philippines are stopped from going abroad, you haven’t understood simple things in life, and what happened to many Philippine girls traveling abroad either for work or relationships.

and you judge people first hand from a single conversation, as you judge people you never have met, as well their relationships.

Do not establish relationships in weeks, use months, I didn’t touch my wife for 4 months before we established a confirmed relationship, didn’t engage before 3 years after we met, and married after 7.

So if you are in a rush, you get what you ask for.

The hardest thing is to leave after you invested in feeling and financially. Know where you are, and adopt. I understand my way is not possible for most, but I was in no rush, neither was her. Red flags are rushing things,

I understand there have been Filipinas cut up in pieces and put in freezers in the middle East. However, to take away the basic freedom of women to leave the country is absolutely unacceptable, not even Communist China does that, that's North Korea territory. The offloading practice has no basis in law and basically tells women they are not able to make their own decisions and some immigration officer will decide for you. In practice what happens is that 98% of women stopped from leaving are in genuine relationships with foreign guys and want to go but can't. It's a ludicrous policy.

Of course I don't, don't be ridiculous, as a man you have no other choice but to judge a woman over the long term, because as I said for the first 6 to 12 months they will pretend to be someone else completely. The woman you first met never existed.

Of course, 7 years is exactly right. However, just to find a candidate that makes it that long is a lottery game.

Absolutely, which is why so many make excuses for a bad woman for so long, like this guy in the story probably did.

so only Middle Eastern men have taken advantage of Asian women?

Any nationality can be offloaded a plane for any reason the airline or the emigration finds suspicious or lack of proof of travel or general documentation.

As said before, every man is responsible for his life living by his actions, and to often you just hear excuses, instead of learning why things went wrong in first place.

we have all done mistakes, nobody is perfect, it is more about what you learned and do next.

The only case where a Filipina domestic  helper was murdered and kept in a freezer was indeed in the Middle East. Most murders of Filipina domestic helpers, or cases where they were maltreated were  in the Middle East..There were cases of maltreatment by others, Nigerians and such, but to curtail the freedom of women to travel as a whole is not a proportional response to these rare instances. They are very, very, VERY rare.

Nobody is talking about that, I was talking about a specific policy of Filipinas being prevented from leaving the country. This is a major problem in the Philippines where overprotetctive Immigration officers stop mostly genuine couples from meeting, thousands of them. Filipino immigration will manufacture document requirements that do not exist in law. For instance to allow a Filipina to leave she will need:

1)  A CFO certificate - a ludicrous document which confirms some old woman has "counselled"the lady on the dangers of being abroad and what she can do. To get it they need to make an appointment.

2)  An invitation letter in the prescribed format from the boyfriend that has to be notarised in the Philiippines embassy

3)  All the other normal requirements, flight ticket, travel insurance etc.

By the time all these docs are collated most couples break up, I know the American guy I spoke to was not pleased about being held up and all the hassle to take this Fiilipina out and told me in no uncertain terms he was not sure when they/'ll meet again.

Ultimately, if the Filipinos don't want their women to leave, they should ensure they have decent employment opportunities in the Philippines. But even those girls who graduated university can look forward to an 8000 pesos job in a bakery, which is why so many prefer to clean floors for Arabs.

I would think this is readily apparent. The person cannot handle the culture, the sophistication of the women, the food all those things that for men glom onto with the Filipino women

.

. Thailand is a challenge in many ways including the women. You're either in or you're out. You're part of the club or you're not

Again, you show no understanding why this become a "problem"

Philippines both genders and all ages contributes greatly to poor families and Philippines economy by sending money back home.

This is pure protection of their own out of safety reasons.

Calling this out as feminism is pure ignorance.

Trafficking is a big problem and you should be happy Philippines takes it seriously.

Absolutely shocking story.

I can well believe that a Filipina would become aggressive and nasty, especiallly one from Mindanao. I have seen it myself.

However, of course you can also be falsely accused in Thailand, but Thai girls are not that nasty as a general rule.

When i lived in surin i helped the police translate when a foreigner did something wrong. They called me in a afternoon and asked if we could meet in prasat.I went there and the case was that a guy from Holland had knocked down his wife.We went to their home and i asked the foreigner what happened. He said he came home and find his wife in bed with a thai man so he get really angry and knocked her down after he throw the thai guy out.

His wife didn't know that i can speak thai and when i listen to what she told the police i understood rigth away she was lying.I told the police what had happened and his wife get shocked and didn't know what to say anymore.

The police told him to stay in a hotel or another place until he get sober before he went back home.

They gave him a fine 2000 baht.Case closed.Another time i went to a hotel in surin where a foreigner had totally smashed his room.He was wery drunk and angry because his wife had been cheated him with another foreigner.

He had doing things in the room and outside his room that we normally use the toilet to do.It looked and smelled horrible. He get arrested on the spot The hotel charge him 50.000 baht that he didn't have.Few days later he was transferred to Bangkok.I dont know what happened to him later

Because it's not a "problem". Isolated instances of crimes that are extremely rare are not a reason to restrict travel for 60 million people. It's just a knee-jerk overreaction by a commission, which by the way is mostly made up of feminist career women.

4 minutes ago, Hummin said:

This is the real problem, that Filipinos are forced to go abroad to make a decent wage, when their own country cannot provide decent paying jobs even for university graduates.

Did you not get the part where 98 % of those people stopped are just legiitimate couples, not victims of "human traffickers"? Even in Philiipines women are complaining they can't leave the country.

6 minutes ago, Hummin said:

Human trafficking is not a big problem, it is a phantom crime pushed by feminists mostly that practically never happens. Have you ever met any one that was "human trafficked" Neither have I. I have, howeve,r met people who say they were unjustly offloaded in Phil, due to the massive overreaction in Phil to this supposed human trafficking issue.

7 minutes ago, Hummin said:

Because they make it up! There is NO LAW in Philiippines that requires a woman leaving to have a CFO certificate. NONE. These immigration officers made up this policy out of thin air on instruction from this commission that seeks to curb "human trafficking". Even Filipinas are confused about this, they don't even know, these requirements change all the time, and indeed are dependent on which immigration officer you come up against.
