There will always be those that like tradition, along with liking new ideas. Remember the US is a conglomeration of all world cultures and isn't just one. That melting pot of cultures is what makes it interesting and why many travel to other countries to see firsthand.

It was a melting pot, it is now a salad bowl.

You are among a select few here who constantly complain about other foreigners

Yes, I'm a minority here, I'm outnumbered, so many foreigners living here like yourself, looking to whinge and whine.

All the moaning, it's strange behaviour, why complain, it was like that before you all arrived in Thailand.

Why come to Thailand and expect changes, leave it be I like it.

I thought you lived in the UK. It's still Merry Christmas like always. Still a marketing thing but still Christmas to most people there. When we were young, it might have felt different because of our naivete as children, but to the children now, it's the same as we saw it. Commercial of course, but still a tradition many look forward to, although the most are those children. Just like Halloween. It's still fun, but mostly for the younger crowd. As parents we can watch them have the fun we did when we were young. years have jaded a lot of us, having to work instead of just play.

What percentage of young children in the US do you think believed in Santa Clause 60 years ago, what do you think that percentage is today?

But let's put things in perspective, shall we?

You do more whinging about alleged foreigners whinging than the alleged foreigners whinging do about thailand.

All you do is whinge about the alleged whingers.

Nah.

Go back 40 years it was happy Christmas all over the states.

not so now

So that's change in American culture and tradition.

I'm sorry, but you've tipped your hand. It's never been "happy" Christmas in the US...

I think your being a bit dishonest there.

You know I live in Thailand, but yes I come from the uk.

Ok UK Christmas markets.

Are now called winter markets. through fear of  the death cult activities.

That's a change in culture and tradition.

it's happening across many counties in Europe. remember Germany over Christmas last year.

One thing I think you're missing, is that the only way anything is changed for the better, is to complain about it. Westerners are far more advanced and know what's wrong here that locals just let fly, or their officials don't care enough about to change.

Again, take away all western influence here and what do you have? You actually like the driving here? Or the fact children are not cared for like they are in the west? That women are second class citizens? You like the smoke from constant burning that hurts thousands of people? That children are passed even if they don't attend school? The power going off all the time in many areas? The crappy road and sidewalk conditions? The terrible building of homes? These are just things that affect us, let alone the locals and all the things that hurt them...........  " All the moaning, it's strange behaviour, why complain, it was like that before you all arrived in Thailand"..........You make it sound like you were born here, separate from the rest of us foreigners. You aren't a local and never will be one.  You're tolerated because you have money.

Disagree, it's a great place for kids to grow up.

I've had a daughter, age 25 now, zero problems.

And my son, now 13, also no problems.

Probably the best place in the world to raise kids,

no stabby illegals to murder them.

No Muslim grooming gangs to abuse them

Much less bullying at school

And they can afford their own homes when they start work.

Maybe the USA has less problems than the UK, but the press reports make it look equally bad.

Totally agree.

If you can give them a good education, that's great.

You can disagree but you're wrong. Girls are treated like the women here, as second class. That's not a good way to start your life, and it happens in a few countries like it does here. It's actually one of the worst places to raise kids, especially girls. Up to 70% of girls here are molested in schools before they turn 18. In the US it's 12%. Quite a difference.

Here the intentional homicide rate is higher than the US. Here, a large majority carry weapons , illegally, and use them all the time for minor differences.

There is just as much bullying done here as anywhere else. Parents here care a lot less than in the west for their children, pawning them off over 35% with grandparents so they can enjoy their freedom working elsewhere.

Children here are still hit by teachers. You do that in the US you'll never work as a teacher again.

There are gangs all over Thailand, much like the west, and human trafficking here is huge, along with some officials that allow it to happen. People that look at woman as second class, objects or slaves, will always think things are going well for the girls here, as they don't care.

Problem there, is that the education system here is among the worst worldwide unless you send them to an international school, which is almost comparable to an average school in the west.

Think it's mainly you complaining, and surprise, nobody listens to your nonsense.

Driving, I've never liked it anywhere, cycling on rural roads is great though.

Don't know about your children, but here mine have a mom and a dad, and someone has always been at home for them, all their lives.

Women are not second class, they are just different to men, you're the only one calling them narcissists.

Power going off, you mean like Texas, Spain and Portugal. At least here it's fixed in under an hour, and there's nothing to stop you installing solar, not even expensive.

Homes, lived in mine for 12 years since new, it's been a great house, kids protected by security at the gates, and they've been free to roam in safety.

I just tell things as they are. Easy to be honest when you tell the truth. When you get older, your thinking isn't like it was when you were a child or teen.At least hopefully. When you work all your life, you see the world in a different way. It is impossible to have the same feeling about life now than when you were young, as it was much easier, unless you had a terrible childhood.

Ok

I see change in culture and traditions in the uk.

and it's not for the good.

Uk population is being slowly replaced by the death cult followers.

just look at London now.  37.8% white.  :coffee1:

It's as good as it gets given my financial situation, so in that respect I am thankful to this country and the lifestyle it allows me to live.

If I had what I consider "real F-You money" (about US$20m+) I'd be on the first plane out and off to the Caribbean.

I think this is what the govt gets wrong about wanting/focusing on "ultra high value" tourists/long-term expats.....people with serious money to spend on holidays can find much better destinations.

No, I see many here complaining, and have heard it all of my life, and everyone with sense agrees because they also see if for themselves. You live a completely different life than I and many of us do, so you can't compare your experiences with ours. Don't answer for others, because I see here many that understand how you live, and what your past was like. Remember some of us have good memories , and what you've said in the past is still in our minds.

You said you left your children behind in the UK, and they won't talk to you. I understand brainwashing to an extent, but that doesn't excuse your actions towards those kids. You came here and had more and forgot about those earlier. they are adults now and will usually always accept the other parent if you tell them the truth, and apologize if it was you that was wrong. You also blame your ex wife, saying she was the problem, so why can't I? Maybe it was you that was to blame, but I won't assume because I wasn't there.

I did most of the child raising of all of my children, as the moms weren't capable or didn't care. having one parent there that cares is better than having two that don't.

Again, for the third time, I don't call anyone a narcissist that isn't showing the signs. My ex is a covert narcissist. If you understand what that means, you needn't comment, because you weren't there. I haven't said any other woman was a narcissist, even though they're around.

Power goes off here almost daily for a few seconds, which means they aren't up to maintenance on this area. This has happened for years before I moved here, even after I and others have talked to them about it. It goes off at least 2 times a month for hours, which is not normal either. In Texas, where I lived 32 years, it might have gone off two times a YEAR, and always during a storm. here it goes off in good weather, and there is no excuses. I'm thinking you really don't know what goes on elsewhere and only go, like a few others here, by videos.

That's your belief, and calling people narcissists, which you obviously don't know the definition of, is ludicrous. Every failed relationship anyone has, including yours,is due to both sides, either making bad choices or those choices themselves, meaning they cause the friction.

You have no idea what constitutes a normal relationship as you pay for all of yours, besides maybe the wife you had in the UK. Who's fault was that one? Your kids don't talk to you so that's someone's fault. Maybe yours because you don't care. Maybe she brainwashed the kids against you, which happens but doesn't have to last forever, as kids aren't always kids in their thinking when they reach adulthood.

You've again, assumed, because you know nothing about me besides what I've said here, and you've twisted that around to suit your jealousy of anyone that knows how to have a relationship with a woman without paying for it. It's not the truth but your own way of thinking, which is so off it's laughable.

More than 31,000 girls and women were raped in Thailand last year and about 60% of them were university students and school pupils, while alcohol use is a major contributing factor to sexual assault, academics said on Thursday.

According to the Public Health Ministry, there were 31,866 rape cases last year, or 87 cases per day on average, or one victim every 15 minutes, Supensri Puengkhokesoong, a leading member of the Women and Men Progressive Movement Foundation (WMP), said at a forum on sexual violence in Thailand. The event was organised by the government's Social Development and Welfare Department, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and the WMP.

"Most of the women and girls were exploited by people who they were close to and trusted," Ms Supensri said...........One link....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_against_women_in_Thailand

In many cases, the rapists were educated and they were able to take advantage of their victims because the victims owed them money. According to some of the women, they were tricked or blackmailed into such acts, she said.................https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/thailand-rape-patriarchy-power-gender-933231
