Bangkok police, led by Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly abducting and assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The arrest occurred outside a condominium in Bang Na on June 17, following incidents from August last year.

The suspect, Kongkai, reportedly engaged with the young girl on Facebook for about two weeks. He then persuaded her to join him for a motorcycle ride, which she believed was harmless. Instead, Kongkai took her to a hotel in Samut Prakan, where he and an acquaintance allegedly assaulted her.

Following the incident, Kongkai's friend convinced the girl to go with him to his home in Chon Buri. She managed to contact her mother, who reported the crime, leading to Kongkai’s arrest by Khlong Dan police.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau has issued warnings about the dangers of online interactions, highlighting risks posed by predators targeting minors. They urge the public to monitor children's online activities closely.

Police also reminded offenders of severe penalties for crimes involving minors under 15, with sentences up to 20 years in prison.
