Questions about Kasikorn Bank TAGTHAI Easy Pay

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a niece coming to travel around Thailand. I've heard about Kasikorn Bank's travel card for tourists. (TAGTHAI Easy Pay) Apparently the advantages are avoiding hefty ATM withdrawal charges, easy to top up from an overseas bank account and ability to use QR codes for payment while she's here.

I have a couple of questions though:

1. Are there any charges to set one up?

2. Are the exchange rates competitive when adding money from an overseas bank account?

Thanks for any info

Last time I checked, you couldn't top it up from an overseas account, you had to exchange foreign currency at Kasikorn Bank (!) for any top up. Unless that has changed recently, I see that as a big disadvantage.

Another issue is that you can only make QR code payments to merchants/companies, not to individuals. So people have found that they couldn't pay some vendors who use their personal accounts / PromptPay QR codes to accept payments.

The ATM withdrawal limit is also quite low (10,000 baht).

Not the end of the world for my niece if it doesn't accept bank transfers. I'll have to compare the exchange rates as Kaisikorn bank. I want to get all the info for her before she gets here

Do you know if they make a charge for the card?

Thanks again
