A father has died in a devastating collision after his car veered across the central divide and slammed head-on into a 22-wheel lorry on a bridge in Ayutthaya province. The incident occurred around 14:30 on 25 June, on Highway 356, the Ayutthaya–Suphan Buri bypass, near Koh Rean subdistrict.

Police Lieutenant Wuttipat Chuaykhit, Deputy Inspector of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station, received reports of a serious crash on a bridge crossing a railway line. Emergency response teams from the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Rescue Foundation were dispatched immediately to the scene.

The crash site, a two-lane bridge, revealed a horrific scene. A white Honda HR-V with Bangkok registration plates, had collided directly with a 22-wheel trailer lorry (registration from Bangkok). The front half of the car was completely crushed.

Rescue workers found the driver, later identified as Mr. Krisanaphat, 35, dead in the driver’s seat. He had been trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated using hydraulic cutting tools. Inside the vehicle, authorities also found two children’s car seats and a baby stroller in the rear, though no other passengers were present.

The lorry driver 61-year-old Mr. Thonglee Thammada, who was visibly shaken, told police he had been driving up the bridge when the Honda suddenly crossed over from the opposite lane at high speed. He had no time to react before the vehicle struck him head-on.

Later, the victim’s wife arrived at the crash site with their child. Overcome with grief, she collapsed to the ground, embracing her husband’s lifeless body in a heartbreaking scene. She revealed that her husband had left the house earlier in the day to run errands for his mother at the provincial hall and had planned to visit an auto parts store in Sena district. She had remained at home, just two kilometres away, to care for their young child.

Police took the lorry driver in for further questioning and are working to collect witness statements and CCTV footage to determine the full circumstances of the crash, as authorities continue to investigate.
