A potential disaster was averted on the morning of 28 June, after a fire broke out at a house in Sattahip district, believed to have been caused by a short circuit in a rooftop solar panel system.

At approximately 10:00, the Sawang Rojanatham Sathan Sattahip Rescue Foundation’s radio centre received an emergency call reporting a fire at a residential property in the Udomsuk housing estate, Soi 5, located in Sattahip subdistrict, Chonburi province.

Firefighters from Sattahip Municipality and Thetsaban Khert Udomsuk Municipality were quickly dispatched to the scene alongside local rescue volunteers. Upon arrival, responders found heavy smoke billowing from the house.

An initial inspection revealed that the blaze had originated from the home’s solar panel control system. Flames had begun to spread to household items inside the property before firefighters in breathing apparatus managed to bring the situation under control, using a water hose-line. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Authorities suspect the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the solar panel setup. A full investigation is being carried out to confirm the exact cause.

Responders stated that this incident highlights the need for regular inspection and proper installation of solar panel systems to prevent electrical faults that could endanger lives and property.
